Flood in Turkey's capital Ankara kills 1, damages 250 houses

June 14, 2020: Recent flooding in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey has claimed lives of one people and damaged more than 250 houses. A man trying to clean his flooded barbershop died after he got electrocuted due to a short circuit caused by water damage. According to Ankara mayor Mansur Yavas, the municipality has deployed 840 personnel and 430 vehicles to help with flood clean up and repair operations. The country's meteorological agency has forecast more heavy rain and thunderstorms over central Anatolia on June 15, 2020.

Turkey: Avalanche disaster in Van kills 41

February 6, 2020: At least 41 people have been killed and 84 others have been injured after two avalanches hit Turkey's eastern border with Iran, the Turkish Natural Disaster and Crisis Directorate (AFAD) said. Two avalanches occurred near Bahçesaray in Turkey's eastern Van Province. On 4 February 2020, an avalanche took place in a mountain pass in the Bahçesaray district.  Fatalities included eight military police officers, three government-paid village guards, three firefighters and nine volunteers. 

Elazig, Turkey Earthquake 2020: At least 19 dead, more than 600 injured

January 25, 2020: At least 19 people have been killed and more than 600 have been injured in eastern Turkey after an earthquake rattled Elazig on Friday evening at 08:55 pm. The 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Sivrice, in eastern Elazig province of Turkey . The earthquake was felt in neighboring provinces of Elazığ, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Adıyaman and Samsun. Kandilli Observatory revised the size of the earthquake to 6.5. According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), thirteen people were killed in Elazig province, four in Malatya, one in Diyarbakir and one in another area. Istanbul Earthquake 2020: M4.8 earthquake rattles Istanbul and Marmara region

January 11, 2020: Magnitude 4.8 moderate earthquake has rattled Istanbul and the Marmara region today at 04:37 pm local time, Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute reported. According to the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute,the earthquake's epicenter was located 63 km far from İstanbul, Turkey .  The earthquake occurred at 16 km depth. Flooding in Turkey today kills two people

January 7, 2020: Flooding triggered by heavy rainfall has claimed lives of two people in Southern Turkey today. Also the landslide damaged a house in the southern Mersin province.
