Mud crater explosion in Sicily kills a girl

Mud crater explosion in Sicily has claimed life of a seven-year-old girl. The girl, her brother and father were buried in mud and sediment when one of the craters exploded in western Sicily. The nine-year-old boy is missing while the father is being treated at a hospital, The Times of Malta reported.

Strong Southern Italy earthquake sends Naples people fleeing into streets

M 5.2 strong earthquake shakes Southern Italy today, sending many residents out on to the streets of Naples. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 5 km NNE of San Gregorio and 26 km WSW of Campobasso. It was 6.2 miles deep. Tremor was widely felt in Naples, Avellino and Caserta. No immediate damage or injuries have been reported. Mount Etna volcano eruption in Italy closes airspace

Mount Etna volcano eruption in Italy has briefly closed airspace nearby, Catania Airport said today. Plume of ashes was visible from much of eastern Sicily. The nearby airport was shortly closed due to the Etna eruption in April 2013 . Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world on the east coast of Sicily, Italy. Southern Italy floods kill 2, three missing

Rains triggered floods in southern Italy have claimed lives of at least two people and left three others missing. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, fatalities are from Latina and Ginosa. Volcano erupts at Rome’s International Fiumicino airport!

A small volcano vent has suddenly appeared near Rome’s International Fiumicino airport, local medias reported. The geyser-like vent has been shooting out steam and mud over the weekend. Rome airport volcano is nearly two metres wide. Geologists and engineers expect it to be a fumarole, a vent of steaming-hot hydrothermal water that erupts at the Earth's surface. Italy earthquake causes landslide, 1 missing

At least one person has been missing after an earthquake caused landslide in Ancona, Italy. Firefighters and harbor control are searching the missing person. Earthquake near Ancona also damaged one governmental building and a fire station. The area was closed to tourists due to the landslide risk, ANSA reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake’s epicenter was located 18km E of Ancona. It was 6.3 miles deep. The 2012 Northern Italy earthquakes had claimed lives of 26 people. Mont Blanc Avalanche News: 4 climbers killed

Two separate avalanche on Mont Blanc have claimed lives of four climbers and left one missing. According to The Local, an avalanche on Mont Blanc du Tacul claimed lives of two Italian climbers and injured another one. The injured Italian climber is having treatment at a hospital in nearby Annecy, 25 miles south of Geneva, Switzerland Another avalanche in French Alps claimed lives of two French alpinists. Firefighters and mountain rescue guides are involved in rescue operations. Mont Blanc avalanche in 2012 claimed live of eleven climbers, including three Britons. Sardinia, Italy forest fire injures 4

Forest fire in Sardinia, Italy has injured at least four people, L'Unione Sarda reported. A farmer was burned while trying to rescue his livestock near Oristano. Other three including a firefighter was hospitalized due to burns or smoke inhalation, Xinhua said. At least 2,000 hectares of vegetation have been burned in Sardinia fire causing the evacuations of around 100 people. Italy tornado 2013: Milan tornado injures 12 (Video)

Tornadoes in Milan, Italy have injured at least 12 people and damaged several buildings and vehicles. Tornado hit Grezzago area destroying cars, overturned trucks. Violent storm hit Vaprio, Trezzo and Grezzago (Milan). Firemen, civil protection were involved in rescue operation. The fire brigade, the police and ambulances reached the tornado area immediately. Italy earthquake today: M 4.9 quake shakess eastern coast

M 4.9 moderate earthquake shakes eastern coast of Italy today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 10km E of Numana and 18 km E of Ancona. It was 9.7 miles deep. Italy earthquake today was well felt by the people of  Sirolo, Numana, Villaggio Taunus, Porto Recanati, Loreto, Castelfidardo, Ancona, Osimo, Porto Potenza Picena, Civitanova Marche, Morrovalle, Macerata and Montegranaro. According to the felt reports received by EMSC, tremor lasted for 10-20 seconds. M 5.1 moderate earthquake shakes Northern Italy today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located just 2 km SSW of Fivizzano. It was 6.4 miles deep. According to Italy's Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, earthquake today occurred in a mountainous region near the Tuscan coast between the provinces of Massa e Carrara and Lucca. Train services on Aulla – Lucca line were also temporary closed. Northern Italy 2013 also triggered a landslide in the village of Equi Terme. More than 100 aftershocks were recorded by INGV in just 3 hours! A rare tornado hit near Milan, Italy today, The Voice Of Russia reported. Tornado damage is reported heavy throughout the Brianza region. At least two people have been injured by flying debris nearby A4 highway. Earlier on 3rd May 2013, a tornado hit Modena, southeast of Milan and injured several people. Landslide, Flooding in Northern Italy: 1 killed

Flash flooding in northern Italy has killed at least one people, Italy based ANSA news reports. A man was found drowned near Verona while firefighters rescued a woman trapped in her car buried by a mudslide. Flood damage is expected in hundreds of millions of euros. Landslide has blocked the railway outside Trento in the Valsugana valley between the Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige regions. Two buildings were also evacuated following landslide in Monte Marenzo, in Lecco. Flooding in Tuscany and Venice claimed lives of four people in November 2012. Tornado in Italy today has injured at least eleven people, The Weather Channel reports quoting Italian newspaper, La Repubblica. Tornado hit Modena, southeast of Milan and damaged several homes. Mount Etna erupts in Sicily, Italy with spewing lava and ash hundreds of feet into the air. Mount Etna eruption is thirteenth time this year, Your Reporter News Italy mentions. The huge burst was observed even by residents of Catania and Taormina. Smoke and ash by Etna were sent up to 3,000ft in the air. Landslide in central Umbria region of Italy has injured twenty five people, mostly commuters and students. The train traveling towards the city of Perugia got derailed by landslide. Update One person is reported to be missing in an avalanche near Foppolo. Rescue teams with helicopters and dogs are searching in the Brembana Valley. Avalanche in Italian alps has claimed lives of three skiers. According to euro News, avalanche tragedy occurred in the Ortles region of the alps. They were on hiking on Punta Beltovo di Dentro in the Italian Alp. Rescue helicopters are searching the fourth person who is reported to be missing in the disaster.
