Guatemala’s Fuego volcano eruption kills 25

June 4, 2018:  Volcán de Fuego in southern Guatemala began a violent volcanic eruption claiming lives of atleast 25 people. Another 46 people are missing, the  the authorities from Guatemala’s natural disaster commission , known as Conred said. ' Villages on the slopes of Fuego volcano were buried in volcanic ash, mud and rocks as the volcano erupted for 16 and a half hours on Sunday. The volcano, which sits less than 30 miles from the capital, Guatemala City, erupted just before noon Sunday and continued to spew ash, rocks and gas into the air. A second powerful eruption followed at 6:45 p.m, The New York Times reported. The ashfall forced the shutdown of La Aurora International Airport, the country's primary airport, where Guatemalan military have been deployed to keep ash off the tarmac.    President Jimmy Morales has declared three days of national mourning. June 14, 2017: At least three people died after a magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit western Guatemala near the Mexico border early Wednesday morning. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred 5 km NNE of San Pablo at a depth of 94 km.

Massive landslide in Santa Catarina Pinula town of Guatemala has claimed lives of at least 26 people and left 600 others missing, emergency services said Friday. The landslide has buried around 125 homes in Santa Catarina Pinula, 15 km south of the capital Guatemala City, Reuters has mentioned quoting Alejandro Maldonado, head of Guatemalan disaster agency CONRED (Coordinadora Nacional para la Reducción de Desastres).

Fuego volcano eruption in Guatemala has closed an airport and forced the evacuation of at least 100 people. "Fuego Volcano erupted Saturday and spewed ashes to an altitude reaching 5,500 meters above sea level," CNN has written quoting Guatemala's national disaster agency. Fuego volcano eruption in Guatemala also stopped all air traffic at La Aurora International Airport.

A landslide caused by heavy rains has claimed lives of at least five people and injured three others in Guatemala, Reuters reported. Powerful explosion at Guatemala's Pacaya volcano spews lava, ash

Powerful explosion at Guatemala's Pacaya volcano has prompted the authorities to consider the evacuation of some 3,000 people of El Rodeo and Patrocinio, BBC has written quoting the Pacaya National Park director, Humberto Morales. Ash clouds have been seen reaching a height of at least 4 km Sunday afternoon. Guatemala earthquake 2013 shakes Mexico and El Salvador, 1 killed

Update One woman from Coatepeque area has been reported dead. She suffered heart attack due to the earthquake. M 6.5 very strong earthquake shakes Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the Guatemala earthquake 2013 epicenter was located  just outside Pajapita in Guatemala, about 9 miles from the border with Mexico. It was 42 miles deep.  At least 20 people have been injured in San Marcos. Dozens of houses have been collapsed in San Miguel Sigüila, San Sebastián Lemoa and Patzicia including roof of Rafael Landívar University. Santa Maria volcano eruption 2013

A major eruption has occurred at Santiaguito lava-dome complex of Santa Maria volcano today. Santa Maria volcano eruption which started at 17:45 (local time) send ash plumes to a height of between 2 to 4 km. According to INSIVUMEH, the eruption was likely caused by the accumulation of pressurized magma and gas under the dome composed of viscous (solid) lava. Santa Maria volcano eruption 1902 was one of the four largest eruptions of the 20th century. Santa Maria volcano is located in Guatemala, near Quetzaltenango.
