Moderate earthquake in Mayotte rocks capital Mamoudzou

May 25, 2018: Magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake rattled Mayotte today at 09:36 am local time.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake's epicenter was located 36 km E of Pamandzi. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km.

The tremor was well felt in Pamanzi, Dzaoudzi, Mamoudzou and Ouangani area.

Mayotte has been continuously experiencing several light to moderate earthquakes from last few days. This is the second moderate earthquake of the day. At 08:43 am local time, magnitude 4.6 earthquake rattled Mayotte.

Mayotte is an insular department and region of France officially named the Department of Mayotte.

From Dzaoudzi (Mayotte): Durée du séisme bien plus longue (autour de 5 secondes) que les autres. Ce qui les rendaient plus effrayant et influencait probablement plus les bâtiments.

Taal volcano eruption 2020 prompts evacuation, ashfall reaches Manila

January 12, 2020: The Taal volcano eruption in Philippines has spewed ash and prompted evacuations in nearby communities on Sunday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised its alert level for Taal Volcano to four out of five. The alert system has five levels with Alert Level 5 meaning a hazardous eruption is in progress.
CNN Philippines reported from its twitter handle (@cnnphilippines) that the ashfall was reported in metro Manila, located about 101 km north of the Taal volcano.
All the flights, both arrival and departures, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport are temporarily suspended.
Two volcanic earthquakes of magnitudes 2.5 and 3.9 were felt in Tagaytay City and Alitagtag, Batangas.
All classes within the provinces of Cavite, Batangas and Rizal has been canceled for Monday, January 13, 2020. due to heavy ashfall. Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno has also ordered the suspension of classes in all levels of public and private schools for tomorrow.
