  • Tornado in Tampa, Florida
    -At least two people were killed when tornadoes ripped through Sarasota County overnight Saturday.
    -According to Manatee County Sheriff Brad Steube, two adults were killed and five people injured, including four children, when a tornado touched down in central Florida. 
  • Snowstorm in Romania
    -Romania closed its Black Sea ports including the main port of Constanta due to the heavy snowstorm.
    -Blizzards dumped up to half a metre of snow in 12 hours, disrupting trains and forcing authorities to shut down all schools in Bucharest and nearby counties.

  • M 5.5 strong earthquake in Indonesia (@ 46 km depth) with epicenter located 68km SSE of Namlea. It will have been well felt by the people of Ambon, Passo and Amahai.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake in Peru (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 59 km SW of Pacasmayo. Weak tremor will have been felt by the people of San Pedro de Lloc, Paijan and Guadalupe.

  • M 3.6 light earthquake in California (@ 1 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km ESE of Lone Pine. It will have been well felt by the people of Three Rivers, Olancha, Independence and Bishop.

  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake in Italy (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 1 km SW of Ripalimosani. Light shaking of MMI IV will have been felt by the people of Campobasso, Isernia and Piedimonte Matese.

  • A disaster recovery center has opened in Tippah County to provide assistance to survivors of the December storms, tornadoes and floods that affected Mississippi. The recovery center is run jointly by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
  • The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) has received about $6.5 million in federal funds for 100 projects to enhance emergency preparedness and security throughout the commonwealth.

Kathmandu rocked by two earthquakes in last 24 hrs

August 5, 2020: Two small earthquakes have been recorded inside Kathmandu valley in last 24 hours.
According to the Nepal Seismological Center, a small earthquake of magnitude 2.7 was recorded around Thapathali area of Kathmandu Metropolitan City at 11:27 pm on August 4, 2020. 
Today, magnitude 3.5 earthquake has been recorded around Bagalamukhi Temple of Lalitpur district at 04:30 pm local time.
However, no damage is expected from these earthquakes.
