Mount Lokon erupted 11:48 p.m. local time Saturday, spewing volcanic ash around 1,500 meters high, The Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) said.
PVMBG has maintained Mount Lokon’s status at siaga (Alert Level 3) and people have been prohibited to enter the 2.5-kilometer radius from the volcano’s Tompaluan Crater.
