Flooding in Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland kills 2

A woman and her daughter died as rain storms triggered flash flooding in Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.

They died in the flash flooding in Dierikon in the canton of Lucerne, The Local Europe reported quoting state broadcaster SRF.

A mudslide cut the road linking Thun and Interlaken in the canton of Bern. Another landslide disrupted rail traffic between Birmensdorf and Zurich Altstetten.

Around 80,000 lightning strikes hit Central Switzerland to Zurich from Sunday to Monday. Weather Service records 200,000 to 500,000 lightning strikes each year in Switzerland.

Earlier, 32.6 degrees temperature, the hottest of 2015, was recorded Friday afternoon in Sion and Basel. There was heat almost all over the country. Geneva and Zurich each recorded temperature of 31.4 degrees.
