  • Stormy seas in United Kingdom
    -Stormy seas in United Kingdom have claimed lives of at least two people in two days. Recently a body of woman was recovered off Croyde Bay in North Devon.
    -More than 100 flood alerts have been issued as most of the country is experiencing heavy rain sweeping in from the Atlantic.
  • Winter Storm Hercules
    -Winter Storm Hercules is expected to dump six to ten inches of snow in New York City beginning Wednesday night.
    -Heaviest snowstorm is likely across southern New England on Thursday and early Friday, AccuWeather reported.
    -The entire New York City area is kept under a winter storm watch for Thursday and Friday by the weather service.
  • Avalanche east of Steamboat Springs
    -An avalanche east of Steamboat Springs has claimed life of a person, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center and the Grand County Sheriff's office confirmed.

  • M 6.6 strong deep earthquake in Vanuatu (@ 196 km depth) with epicenter located 37 km W of Sola. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Sola, Port-Olry, Luganville, Norsup and Lakatoro.

  • M 3.0 weak earthquake in California (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 4 km S of Wofford Heights. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Oildale, Bakersfield and Tehachapi.

  • M 4.6 moderate deep earthquake in Tonga (@ 203 km depth) with epicenter located 167 km W of Neiafu.

  • Flooding in Andean Cusco region of Peru
    -Flooding in Andean Cusco region of Southern Peru has made 16,000 people homeless, Xinhua reported.
    -The Quillabamba River burst its banks following torrential downpours and caused flooding in the area.

  • Flooding in Tacloban, Philippines
    -Heavy rain caused flooding in Tacloban village of Philippines Thursday morning
    .
    -Flood water swept away several tents, used as temporary shelters by residents of Barangay 88. GMA Network reported.
    -The area is still recovering from super typhoon Yolanda.

    -Tropical storm Bejisa is forecast to hit Mauritius on January 3, 2013, the US Navy and Air Force Joint Typhoon Warning Center said.
    -A cyclone warning Class 1 has been issued in Mauritius following a severe tropical cyclone Bejisa.

A: Yes, there is no doubt. Numbers of earthquakes are recorded in Nepal on daily basis but they are so small that they are not even felt by the people. If you are asking about an earthquake to occur on fix date and time, I would say it is impossible to predict such things. 
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), "Stating that an earthquake is going to occur today is not really predicting earthquakes. To date, they cannot be predicted. But anyone, on any day, could make this statement and it would be true." 
Earthquake prediction may some day become a reality, but only after much more is learned about earthquakes. Meanwhile, you may have heard different rumors. Some turns to be co-incidentally correct. But not every time. Please don't run behind the rumors!

Flooding in Mauritius capital Port Louis: 11 killed

Recent flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed at least eleven lives. About 152 mm rainfall has been recorded in Port Louis within three hours.

-Water supply is currently disrupted in the Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.
-Still one person from Grand Gaube, northern Mauritius is reported to be missing.
