Recent Natural Disasters
  • Very strong earthquake in Sumoto, Honshu, Japan

    -Magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit
    Sumoto, Honshu, Japan.
    -Based on USGS PAGER MAP,
    Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Sumoto and Fukura. Moderate shaking will have felt by the people of Naruto, Akashi, Kobe-shi, Shimminatocho and Wakayama-shi. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Tokushima-shi, Osaka-shi, Iwakuni, Takamatsu-shi and Okayama-shi.
    -JMA mentions magnitude 6.0 at 10 km shallow depth.
    -No tsunami alert has been issued.
    Update 4
    -At least 23 people are reported to be injured in Fukui, Osaka, Hyogo, Okayama and Tokushima area. Japanese TV news footage shows collapsed walls (picture aside; AP).
    -The Government of Japan has opened a crisis center after the earthquake in western Japan.

    -At least six people are reported to be injured.

    -Kansai airport in Osaka Bay is temporarily closed.
    -Local train services has been suspended to check safety.

    -Earthquake occurred on Awaji Island in the Seto Inland Sea between the the islands of Honshu and Shikoku.
    -Earthquake injured two people in Himeji.

    -Forest fire in Gulmi, Nepal has burned 800 hectares.

Recent Earthquakes 
  • M 5.8 very strong earthquake in near S. Coast of Western Honshu, Japan (@ 14 km depth) with epicenter located 9 km NW of Sumoto. Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Sumoto and Fukura. Moderate shaking will have felt by the people of Naruto, Akashi, Kobe-shi, Shimminatocho and Wakayama-shi. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Tokushima-shi, Osaka-shi, Iwakuni, Takamatsu-shi and Okayama-shi.

  • M 4.7 moderate deep earthquake in Tajikistan (@ 106 km depth) with epicenter located 100 km E of Vanj. Just a weak shaking of MMI II will have felt by the people of Murghob, Khorugh and Ishkashim.

  • M 2.6 weak shallow earthquake in Bosnia and Herzegovina (@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located 4 km SW of Kakanj. Weak tremor will have felt as far as Sarajevo.

  • M 4.6 moderate earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 70 km depth) with epicenter located just 5 km SE of Kawaguchi. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Katsuura, Tateyama and Ohara.

It's important to know how we can prepare for natural disasters with proper emergency preparedness plan for less natural disasters damage. We have developed several natural disasters early warning system which provides warnings of natural disasters before they impact people and property. Hail storm in Chennai: 3rd time in 5 years

Hail storm hit Ayanavaram, Chennai between 1.30pm and 1.45pm Friday afternoon. Nungambakkam recorded 3.5cm of rain and Meenambakkam 1.1cm, India Meteorological Department said. Q: The tremors of earthquake were felt at intervals of 15 seconds. The first tremor was felt at 8:54:57 and last tremor was felt at 10:45:12. How many times were the tremors felt?
