  • Snow storms in Hokkaido, Japan
    -Snow storms in Hokkaido, Japan have claimed six lives.
    -A woman and her three children died after their car stucked in snow. Two others were buried in Nakashibetsu and Yubetsu region.
  • Avalanche in Torghar, Pakistan
    -An avalanche in Chum Jabba village in Torghar district has killed three people.
    -Heavy rainfall caused avalanche which killed a woman and two girls. Click for detail report on this Pakistan avalanche.
  • Avalanche in East Siberia, Russia
    -At least six teenage boys are reported to be missing in an avalanche in east Siberia, Russia.
    -Disaster occurred near Mugur-Aksy village close to the Mongolian border.
    -As of 17:30 UTC, dozens of rescue workers and a helicopter were still searching the missing boys.

  • M 4.3 light shallow earthquake Offshore Northern California (@ 1 km depth) with epicenter located 45 km W from Petrolia.   • M 4.1 light shallow earthquake in Cyprus (@ 11 km depth) with epicenter located 26 km E of Rizokarpaso. It will have well felt by the people of Famagusta,  Protaras and Paralimni.

  • M 5.5 moderate earthquake in Yunnan, China (@ 33 km depth) with epicenter located 30 km E of Shimen. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Yuhu, Shangjie and Jinhua. People of Shimen, Yunhe, Dali, Dayan, Dadukou, Kangpu, Wujing, Kunming and Yezhi will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

    -Earthquake in Yunnan has injured at least 30 people.
    -A team has been send to the quake area by provincial earthquake bureau.
    Update 1
    -Earthquake has caused damage in Dali and Shimen region of China. Details yet to come.
    -The Yunnan Province Seismological Bureau expects major damage.
  • M 5.1 moderate shallow earthquake in Tajikistan (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 38 km N of Vanj. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Khorugh, Gharm and Khaydarkan.

Tibet/Nepal earthquake 2013 injures people

Haiti Earthquake 2021: At least 724 killed and 2,800 injured

August 15, 2021: A magnitude 7.2 earthquake in Haiti has claimed lives of at least 724 people and injured 2,800 people. The earthquake occurred at the  Tiburon Peninsula in the Caribbean nation of Haiti on the island of Hispaniola on August 14, 2021. Haiti earthquake has been categorized as the deadliest earthquake of 2021 which occurred near Petit-Trou-de-Nippes, approximately 150 kilometres west of the capital, Port-au-Prince. According to the United States Geological Survey(USGS), the earthquake occurred as a result of oblique-reverse faulting on the Enriquillo–Plantain Garden fault zone. The earthquake was also strongly felt in Jamaica. According to the Haitian Civil Protection Agency, the Haiti earthquake destroyed at least 860 homes and 700 others have been damaged. In addition, minor floods and landslides have been reported in affected areas in Haiti. The earthquake struck as Tropical Storm Grace is expected to reach Haiti between 16 and 17 August.
