    -Flash flooding in Mauritius has claimed eight lives. Flood in Mauritius injured 82 others.
    -Among them six people died in the flooding in Caudan underground tunnel.

  • M 5.6 moderate earthquake Off the Coast of Northern Peru (@ 51 km depth) with epicenter located 63 km SW from Chimbote. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Puerto Santa, Chimbote, Puerto Casma, Guadalupito, Santa, Samanco and Trujillo. People of Chocope, Huaraz, Barranca, Lima and Huacho will have felt weak shaking of MMI III.

  • M 5.6 moderate earthquake in Mindanao, Philippines (@ 90 km depth) with epicenter located 84 km ENE from Surigao. People of Libas, Del Carmen, Pilar, General Luna, Dapa, Union, Butuan and Libertad will have felt light shaking of MMI IV. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Panalanoy, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City.

  • Avalanche close to the Glencoe Ski Centre, Scotland
    -One person is reported to be missing in an avalanche in the Etive Glades, close to Glencoe Ski Centre.
    -Around 30 people including Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team are involved in the search operation in an avalanche in Scottish Highlands.
  • North Dakota Governor has declared a state wide flood emergency. The worst spring flooding is expected on the Red River in eastern North Dakota. Following Federal Emergency Management Agency officials, the number of flood insurance policies in the Fargo, Dakota area has dropped by 40 % in the past year.

Westmorland, California earthquake swarm: More than 240 earthquakes recorded

October 1, 2020: More than 240 earthquakes have been recorded near Westmorland, California.A 4.9 magnitude earthquake is the latest and strongest earthquake to strike near Westmorland. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the magnitude 4.9 earthquake was located 4 km NE of Westmorland, California.The earthquake swarm began around 4 p.m., when a 3.0 magnitude temblor struck. At least 240 earthquakes were recorded by 8 p.m.USGS confirmed that the earthquake and the associated swarms are located in an area of diffuse seismic activity between the San Andreas fault in the north and the Imperial fault to the south. It’s less likely, but possible, that a larger quake with a magnitude up to 6.9 will strike, according to the earthquake forecast by the USGS.According to the USGS, the latest swarm is “rapidly evolving,” and seismologists will update their quake forecast as more data is collected.Tremors were felt by the people of San Diego County and Tijuana.
