  • Thunderstorm and tornado in Odisha, India
    -
    Thunderstorm and tornado in Odisha, India injured 12 people.
    -Tornado destroyed more than 200 houses in Aul and Rajkanika areas of Kendrapara district of Odisha.

    -A boat capsized in river Kharasrota with 40 persons including 10 women and eight children in it but luckily all of them were rescued by local villagers. Click for detail report on severe thunderstorm and tornado in Odisha.
  • Wildfire in Tennessee, United States
    -A wildfire outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee has burned more than 30 large rental cabins.
    -Wildfire near the resort town of Pigeon Forge has burned 230 acres.
    -About 150 evacuated people are having shelter at the Pigeon Forge Community Center provided by American Red Cross.
    -A state of emergency has been declared for Pigeon Forge wildfire.

  • M 5.0 moderate shallow earthquake Offshore Valparaiso, Chile (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 61 km W of La Ligua. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Puente Alto, Quillota, Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Hacienda La Calera.

  • M 4.7 moderate earthquake near the Coast of Southern Peru (@ 91 km depth) with epicenter located 33 km E of Camana. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Mollendo, Arequipa and Ilo.

Bolide observed in western Nepal: NASO

March 26, 2020: The object seen in the Nepali sky Thursday evening is probably a fireball or a bolide, The Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) said.
Meanwhile, NASO has urged Gandaki province residents to share any evidence of the object observed entering the atmosphere. 
A bright object was seen in western Nepal mainly reported from Pokhara, Syanga and Baglung with loud crashing sound heard around 8pm.
A bolide is an extremely bright meteor, especially one that explodes in the atmosphere.

Challis, Idaho earthquake today measures 6.5: March 31, 2020

March 31, 2020: Strong earthquake of magnitude 6.5 has been recorded in Idaho at 05:52 pm local time, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
According to the USGS, the earthquake's epicenter was located 72km W of Challis, Idaho. The earthquake occurred at 10 km depth.
The earthquake was felt by the residents from Nevada to Montana. The tremor was felt as far as 450 km from the epicenter.
The main earthquake was followed by a 4.8 magnitude aftershock around 30 minutes later. There were more than a half-dozen aftershocks in the hours following the main Challis, Idaho earthquake today.
The current Challis, Idaho earthquake is the second-strongest earthquake in the state of Idaho since records began. Also, no earthquakes of magnitude 5+ have occurred within 50 km of this event over the past 50 years.
A 6.9 magnitude earthquake that happened on Oct. 28, 1983 in the Lost River Range at Borah Peak in Central Idaho is the strongest earthquake in this region. The 1983 Borah …
