  • Landslide in Dassu, Pakistan
    -One killed in landslide disaster in Dassu, the headquarters of Kohistan district of Pakistan.
    -Landslide caused damage to two trucks and two shops.
    -Landslide also blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH).
    -In another news, of inner roads in Galiyat between Abbottabad and Murree are closed due to heavy snowfall.

  • Strong winds in Zomba, Malawi
    -Strong winds in Zomba injured 16 Malawians.
    -Five people are having treatment at Zomba central hospital currently.
    -Winds also blew off the roofs of Malawi prison.
    -Flooding in Malawi southeast Africa killed three and displaced 5,000 people some days ago.

    This is what one of our visitor from Gorham, Maine has shared with us:
    "In the afternoon I heard this strange loud boom,boom, boom and there was a silence . then again it started for appox. 30 seconds . I looked outside and saw nothing around the house or down the street. It was startling. I had just laid down on the sofa and fell asleep. The noise woke me up and had me on the alert. Didn't know what happened till I read the news report tonight around 6pm."
  • M 4.5 moderate deep earthquake near the West Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 267 km depth) with epicenter located 22 km W of Takayama. It will have faintly felt by the people of Gujo, Katsuyama and Ono.

  • M 5.5 strong shallow aftershocks in Southeastern Alaska (@ 12 km depth) with epicenter located 99 km (61 miles) WSW of Craig. Just a weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Petersburg, Sitka, Ketchikan, Thorne Bay, Craig, Hyder, Metlakatla and Ketchikan.

  • M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Luzon, Philippines (@ 49 km depth) with epicenter located 18 km SW of San Nicolas. Angeles, Cabangan, Subic, San Nicolas, San Antonio, San Narciso and  San Marcelino.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 57 km depth) with epicenter located 57 km SE of Namie. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Hirono-cho, Hitachi, Iwaki, Kitaibaraki and Takahagi.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Gulf of Aden (@ 6 km depth) with epicenter located 134 km SE of Ahwar (Yemen). It will have faintly felt by the people of Jawf al Maqbabah, Ceerigaabo and Boosaaso (Somalia).

  • Flash floods in eastern Missouri, United States
    -One killed in flash floods in eastern Missouri.
    -The vehicle was swept off a bridge by the rain-swollen Castor River.

    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Emang was located  500 nm southeast of Diego Garcia.

  • Wildfire in Warrumbungle National Park, New South Wales
    -A wildfire blaze in the Warrumbungle National Park, New South Wales has burned 40,000 hectares so far.
    -At least 33 homes have been burned in the Wambelong Fire near Coonabarabran.
    -It is believed to be one of the most ferocious wildfire in recent years.
  • Yunnan's China officials have apologized for cremating landslide victim bodies without the approval of their families. The landslide in the Zhenxiong village of Gaopo, China killed 46 people.
  • New research has shown that  a massive earthquake may be possible in California. The scientists believe a major earthquake could be possible along the California San Andreas Fault and could be felt from San Diego to San Francisco.
