Wales_Flooding_Photo_Recent_Natural_disasters
  • Flooding and landslides in Swansea and Pontypridd, Wales
    -Several homes were evacuated after landslips due to flooding in a Swansea valley village and in Pontypridd.
    -Flooding also disrupted train services between Cardiff Central and Bridgend, and Caersws and Machynlleth in Powys.
    -Lostwithiel in Cornwall and the area around Barnstaple in north Devon, England were also among the worst hit.
    -People in Braunton, Umberleigh, Barnstaple and Bishops Tawton all suffered as Rivers Yeo and Caen burst their banks.
    -There are currently seven flood warnings by the Environment Agency in Wales (Photo: River Bray burst its banks and flooded Brayford, in north Devon; Guardian PA).

  • Wildfire in Langtang National Park, Nepal
    -A massive wildfire has broken out in Langtang National Park.
    -Wildfire is burning in huge areas in Yarcha VDC ward 6 and 7.
    -Nepali Police, Nepali Army personnel and Langtang national parks workers are currently struggling to control the blaze.
    -Two days, there was rumor of volcanic eruption at Langtang national park of Nepal.

  • M 4.2 light shallow earthquake in Vancouver Island, Canada Region (@ 14 km depth) with epicenter located 156 km W of Port Hardy. It will have well felt by the people of Nanaimo and Port Hardy.

  • M 5.8 very strong shallow earthquake in Black Sea, Offshore Georgia (@ 19 km depth) with epicenter located 46 km SW of Och'amch'ire. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Och'amch'ire, Gali, P'ot'i, Zugdidi, Sokhumi, Khobi, Bat'umi, Tbilisi, K'ut'aisi Sochi, Krasnodar (Russia) and Trabzon (Turkey).

  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Turkey-Iran Border Region (@ 11 km depth) with epicenter located 11 km WSW of Khvoy. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Salmas, Qarah Zia' od Din, Marand, Azarbayjan-e Gharbi, undefn, West Azerbaijan, Azarbayjan-e Gharbi and Azarbayjan-e Sharqi.

  • M 4.6 moderate shallow earthquake in Taiwan (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 37 km NNW from Hua-lien. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Shulin, Taipei, Su-ao and Hsin-chu.

  • M 3.4 light shallow earthquake in Central California (@ 4 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km S from Tres Pinos. It will have well felt by the people of Hollister, Chualar, San Jose City Hall, Gilroy, San Jose, Lafayette and Danville.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Afghanistan (Amu Darya), Australia (Darling), Bolivia (Madre de Dios), Brazil (Tocantins), Chad (N Djamena), China (Mekong and Huang He), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Dominican Republic, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq (Shatt al Arab and Tigris), Kenya (Tana), Philippines, Sudan (Blue Nile, White Nile), Syria (Euphrates), Tanzania.
  • A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Sonoma County, California.


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Santiago, Poas, Reventador, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Raung, Erta Ale, Paluweh, Gamalama, Batu Tara, Sakurajima, Manam, Ulawun, Tolbachik and Kilauea volcano.
  • Argentina and Chile borderline/Copahue recent volcanic activity
    -Chile has issued red alert for Copahue volcano.
    -Cloud of ash about 1.5 km high in the Biobio region was observed. However no evacuation order issued.
    -Yesterday the alert level for Copahue was raised from Green to Orange.


Recent Tropical Cyclones 
  • Tropical Cyclone Four
    -As of 12:00 UTC, TC Four was located 420 nm east-southeast of cape guardafui, Somalia.
    -This Tropical cyclone is expected to threaten portions of Somalia with heavy rain early this week.
