Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Alajuela, Jacó, Heredia, Grecia, Granadilla, Escazú, Concepción, Cartago, Palmar, Mercedes, Quepos, Sabanilla, San Antonio, San José, San Pedro, San Ramón and Santo Domingo.

  • M 4.9 moderate shallow earthquake in Gulf of Paria, Venezuela (@ 12 km depth) with epicenter located just 6 km SSE of Yaguaraparo. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Carupano, Gueiria, Maturin and Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago).

  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake near the East Coast of Honshu, Japan (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km NW of Yokaichiba. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of  Narita, Sawara, Katori-shi, Chuo and Tokyo. Weak shaking will have even felt by the people of Yokosuka and Yokohama city.

    -Local  meteorology agency building of Dobo region has been seriously damaged.
    -Weak shaking was felt as far as Darwin, Northern Territory region of Australia.

    -Two sailors from Essex killed after giant wave hit their yacht.
  • Official in Niger says recent floods have killed 91 people in the country. Flood affected all eight regions, including the large regions of Tillabery, Dosso and Niamey.
  • Following official data, Natural disasters killed 1,263 Chinese across China in the first three quarters of 2012.
