  • Landslide in Cebu, Philippines
    -Two killed in landslide disaster in Naga city of Cebu, Philippines.
    -In Cebu City, barangays Lusaran, Binaliw, Guba, Budlaan, Malubog, Buot-Taup, Busay, Sirao, Taptap, Tagbao, Tabunan, Pung-ol Sibugay,Sudlon II, Sudlon I, Sinsin, Buhisan, Pamutan, Sapangdaku, and Adlaon are considered highly susceptible to landslides.
    -Rainfall also caused flooding in A.S Fortuna St in Mandaue City and the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City.
    -Flight for Caticlan, Boracay Island were cancelled due to bad weather.
    -Yellow rainfall alert issued in Manila.

  • M 7.6 massive earthqukae in Costa Rica (@ 40 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km NE of Hojancha. Very strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Hojancha, Nicoya, Nandayure, Santa Cruz, Samara and Belen.   • M 4.5 moderate shallow earthquake in Taiwan (@ 29 km depth) with epicenter located 78 km E of Hualian. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Su'ao, Yilan and Buli.

  • M 5.2 moderate aftershocks in Philippine islands region (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 121 km NE of Sulangan. It will have well felt by the people of Guiuan, Borongan and Panalanoy.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (River Darling), Brazil (River Rio Paranaiba, River Madeira and River Tocantins), Cameroon (River Benue), Chad, China (River Mekong and River Huang He), Colombia (River Magdelena), Democratic Republic of the Congo (River Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya (Ahero Bridge), Laos (River Mekong), Madagascar, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria (River Benue), Paraguay (River parana), Panama, Peru (River Ucayali), Senegal, United States (River Colorado and River Ohio) and Venezuela (River Orinoco). 
  • Flash floods in Rochester/New York
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Rochester city of Monroe county.
    -About 2.4 inches of rainfall has fallen at the Greater Rochester International Airport, breaking the old record of 1.37 inches (Sept. 4, 1873; same date).
    -Flood advisory issued for Monroe, Orleans, and Genesee counties.
    -Power outages reported to more than 2,000 customers in Monroe County.

Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Villarrica, Stromboli, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Grozny, Sakurajima, Dukono, Karangetang, Semeru, batu Tara, Manam, Kizimen, Yasur and Kilauea volcano.
  • Guatemala/Fuego recent volcanic activity
    -Fuego volcano erupted with spewing lava and columns of ash into the air.
    -Lava flows of around 1000 m were spewed out down the west and east sides of the volcano. However, No evacuations have been ordered.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Storm Leslie
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Leslie was located 815 km SSE of Bermuda.
    -Leslie could become a hurricane in a couple of days.
    -Swells generated by Leslie will continue to affect Bermuda, the U.S. East Coast from central Florida northward, the northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for the next several days.
  • Post-Tropical Cyclone John
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TC John was located 810 km WNW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Gradual weakening is expected during the next couple of days. No threat to land.
  • Tropical Storm Michael
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Michael was located 1950 km WSW of the Azores. No threat to land.


Natural Disaster News
  • Sink holes in Tacloban, Philippines
    -Four large sinkholes discovered in Barangay Omawas, Maydolong, Eastern Samar after magnitude 7.6 quake hit Philippine Islands some days ago.
    -Sinkholes in these area of Philippines measures about five meters in diameter and four meters in depth.
