  • Wildfire in San Diego, California
    -Wildfire near San Diego killed one and destroyed 20 homes. The man, who ignored evacuation orders, was found dead in a home on Tierra del Sol Road near Campo.
    -Fire has burned 2451 acres near Shockey Truck Trail and Hwy 94 on the Campo Indian Reservation, east of Campo.
    -Fire closed Jewel Valley Road at Highway 80, and Shasta Way and Tierra del Sol Road at SR-94.
    -The Red Cross has opened an evacuation shelter at the Mountain Empire High School in Pine Valley.
    -Fire which started on September 23 is now 40% contained (Photo of Shockey Fire taken Sunday by News 8).

Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of La Paz, Topolobampo, Higuera de Zaragoza, Ahome, Bagojo, Ciudad Constitucion, Los Mochis, Guasave and Guamuchil. Weak shaking of MMI III will have felt by the people of Culiacan and Ciudad Obregon.

  • M 3.7 light shallow earthquake in Nevada (@ 13 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km NE from Dry Lake. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Moapa Town, Logandale, Overton, Nellis AFB, North Las Vegas and Las Vegas.

  • M 4.5 light shallow earthquake in Northern California (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 4 km N from Talmage. It will have well felt by the people of Ukiah, Upper Lake, Albion, Fort Bragg, Lake Port, Laytonville, Willits, Redwood Valley and Sacramento.

    Tremor was felt as far as Santa Rosa, Vacaville, Rohnert Park, Windsor and Clearlake.
  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake in Hindu Kush region, Afghanistan (@ 34 km depth) with epicenter located 34 km S of Khanabad. Tremors will have felt as far as Qunduz and capital Kabul.

  • M 4.8 moderate shallow earthquake in Timor region (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter 20 km NNE of Leof (Indonesia). It will have well felt by the people of Kefamenanu, Atambua and Seo.

  • M 5.7 strong but harmless sea quake in Tonga (@ 105 km depth) with epicenter located 52 km NNW of Hihifo. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Gataivai, Satapuala, Gataivai, Satapuala, Utulei and Apia (Samoa).

  • Super Typhoon Jelawat
    -As of 03:00 UTC,  Typhoon Jelawat was located 400 nm east-northeast of Manila, Philippines.
    -Typhoon Jelawat killed two in Zamboanga del Norte and caused heavy flooding. The typhoon is forecast to be 430 km east of Calayan Island by Thursday morning.
  • Hurricane Miriam
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Hurricane Miriam was located 640 km SW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    - Miriam is a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale and moving toward the northwest near 8 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Ewiniar
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Ewiniar was located 245 nm southwest of iwo-to, Japan.
  • Tropical Storm Nadine
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Nadine was located 670 km SSW of the Azores.
    -Nadine is moving toward the west near 7 mph. No threat to land.
