Ongoing Major Flash Floods: Botsawana (Savuti Chanel), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins and River Amazon), China (River Mekong, River Yangtze, River Xi Jiang and River Brahmaputra), Colombia (River Magdelena, River Rio Negro and River Japura), Democratic Republic of the Congo (River Ubangi), Honduras, Kenya (Tana upstream from Masinga), New Zealand, Pakistan and Sudan (River Blue Nile).


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Sangay, Villarrica, Etna, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doinyo Lengai, Sakurajima, Dukono, Batu Tara, Semeru and Manam volcano.
  • Mount Tongariro/New Zealand recent volcanic activity
    -Mount Tongariro spewed ash and rocks for about 30 minutes.
    -    Several domestic flights to towns near the mountain canceled or delayed by National carrier Air New Zealand.
    -The volcano was quiet for more than a century.

Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Storm Ernesto
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Ernesto was located 475 km E of Isla roatan, Honduras and 670 km E of Belize.
    -A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Chetumal to Punta Allen on the East Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and  the entire coast of Belize.
    -Hurricane conditions are expected to reach the coasts of Belize and Mexico by early Wednesday.
  • Typhoon Haikui
    -As of 01:00 UTC, Typhoon Haikau was located approximately 200 nm northeast of Taipei, Taiwan.
  • Tropical Storm Thirteen
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Thirteen was located approximately 580 nm north-northwest of Wake Island.
  • Post-Tropical Cyclone Florence
    -As of 01:00 UTC, Florence was located 2440 km E of the northern Leeward Islands.
    -The Post-tropical cyclone is expected to weaken further during the next couple of days.
