More than 68,000 people displaced due to flooding in Myanmar
  • Flooding in Myanmar
    -More than 68,000 people displaced due to flooding in Myanmar caused by Torrential rain. Displaced people are currently living in 308 different camps around the country.
    -Floods destroyed around 200,000 acres of rice paddies.
    -Worst hit is southwestern delta region. Two people died in flooding in Lashio in eastern Shan State earlier this month.

  • Wildfire northwest of Madrid, Spain
    -Wildfire northwest of capital Madrid displaced more than 2,000 people. Fire is burning just 60 kilometres far from the Spanish capital.
    -Railway line between Madrid and the city of Avila closed.
    -Fire broke out close to the towns of Robledo de Chavala, Santa Maria de la Alamadena and Valdemaqueda, northwest of the Madrid, capital city of Spain.

  • M 4.8 moderate earthquake in La Ligua, Chile (@ 48 km depth) with epicenter located 38km N of Hacienda La Calera. It will have well felt by the people of Quillota, Llaillay and Santiago.

  • M 5.7 moderate aftershocks in El Salvador (@ 34 km depth) with epicenter located 87km S of Puerto El Triunfo. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Puerto El Triunfo, Jiquilisco and Jucuaran. People of Usulutan, Chirilagua, Ozatlan, San Miquel, San Salvador, Soyapango, Santa Ana and Tegucigalpa will have felt weak shaking of MMI IV.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (River Murray), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins), Burkina Faso, Cameroon (River Benue), Chad, China (River Mekong, River Huang He and River Brahmaputra), Democratic Republic of the Congo (River Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria (River Benue), Peru (River Ucayali, River Putamayo), Sudan (River Blue Nile), Uruguay, Venezuela (River Orinoco) and Zimbabwe (River Zambezi).

Erupting Volcanoes: Popocatepetl, Fuego, Tungurahua, Villarrica, Etna, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doinyo Lengai, Sakurajima, Semeru, Batu Tara, Dukono, Manam, Ulawun, Yasur, Ambrym, Kilauea and Kizimen volcano.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical Storm Isaac
    -As of 06:00 UTC, TS Isaac was located 235 km se of the mouth of the Mississippi Rive and 355 km SSE of Biloxi Mississippi.
    -A Hurricane Warning is in effect for east of Morgan City Louisiana to the Alabama-Florida border including metropolitan New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.
    -Isaac is expected to become a hurricane today and continue to strengthen until landfall occurs
    along the northern Gulf Coast.

  • Tropical Storm Ileana
    -As of 06:00 UTC, TS Ilema was located 530 km SW of Manzanillo and 855 km SSE of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Ileana is moving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Tembin
    -As of 06:00 UTC, TS Tembin was located 125 nm south of Taipei, Taiwan.
  • Tropical Storm Bolaven
    -As of 06:00 UTC, TS Bolaven was located 200 nm southwest of seoul, south Korea.


Natural Disaster News
  • Tornado in Vero Beach, Florida
    -Torado damaged several houses in Vero Beach of Florida.
    -A flood warning is also in effect for the India River County until Monday afternoon (local date).
  • Wildfires in Bosnia nd Herzegovina
    -Wildfires reported across southern Bosnia. It is burning in Glogosnica, Trebinje, Gacko, Nevesinje and Mostar area.
    -Bosnian military helicopters as well as one sent from Russia are currently fighting the blaze.
  • Wildfire in Helena National Forest area, Montana
    -Lightning from a storm caused Wildfire on Helena National Forest land near Lincoln.
