Recent Natural Disasters
  • Flooding in Hyderabad, India
    -Nine people reported to be killed in Hyderabad.
    -Heavy rainfall caused collapse of wall at Adityanagar which killed nine people including two women and three children.
    -Four students were injured due to collapse of school building in Balanagar area.
    -Floods also reported in north Bihar. About 100 students were evacuated after the floodwaters of Gandak and Bhapsa rivers entered girls school at Harna Tad in Bagaha.
  • Landslide in Thoerl, Austria
    -One killed in landslide in Styria province of Austria.
    -More than 20 people evacuated by helicopters from Liezen.
    -About 360 people left their home in Sankt Lorenzen due to fear of disaster.

  • M 5.8 strong earthquake Off East Coast of the North Island, New Zealand with epicenter located 177 km NE of Gisborne. It will have just faintly felt in coastal area.

  • M 5.1 moderate earthquake Offshore Northern California (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 108 km W from Petrolia. It will have well felt by the people of Eureka, McKinleyville, Arcata, Bayside, Whitethorn, Petrolia, Walnut Creek, Oakland, Fort Bragg and Fort Bragg.

  • M 4.5 moderate earthquake in Northern Xinjiang, China (@ 42 km depth) with epicenter located 138 km ESE of Yining Xian. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Kuqa, Shihezi and Zharkent (Kazakhstan).

Volcanic Activity List
  • New Zealand/Tongariro recent volcanic activity
    -GNS Science lifted Mt Tongariro's volcanic alert status from level zero to level one, and increased the aviation status from green to yellow.
    -More than 30 volcanic earthquakes recorded in Tongariro in last seven days.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Philippines
    -Two people reported to be killed in floods in Philippines.
    -Several people from San Pedro in Laguna were evacuated. Lumban area near Manila is worse affected.
    -Still six people are missing in stormy waters off the northern town of Bolinao.
    -Rainfall caused by Tropical Depression “Ferdie” have caused flooding in many parts of Metro Manila.
  • Flooding in Charlotte, North Carolina
    -A North Carolina mall evacuated after heavy rainfall caused the ceiling to collapse.
    -No injury reported.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Tropical Storm Khanun
    -Tropical Storm Khanun killed at least 7 in North Korea.
    -It caused flooding in Kangwon Province. Several houses deatroyed in Haeju City and Jaeryong County.
    -At least 10 people were killed in August 2011 when Typhoon Muifa destroyed hundreds of houses in the southern region of North Korea.

    -Lightning caused fire near Knez Divide and Trapper Mine in the City of Craig.
