Recent Natural Disasters

• Flooding in Cumbria, England
  -Transpennine Express and Virgin trains services between Glasgow Central and Carlisle, and between Edinburgh Waverley and Carlisle cancelled.
  -There are 151 flood warnings and alerts in place across northern England and Scotland. There are also five flood warnings in place in Kintore, Aberdeenshire, and in several parts of the Scottish Borders.
  -Rivers burst their banks in Croston and Darwen. Several people evacuated in Lancashire.

• M 3.8 light shallow earthquake in Bulgaria 9@ 2 km depth) with epicenter located 12 km NE Kresna. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Razlog  and Sofia.

• M 5.9 strong earthquake in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia (@ 97 km depth) with epicenter located 95 km SW of Binjai. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Kabanjahe, Perbaungan, Binjai, Sunggal, Delitua, Stabat, Medan, Percut, Pematangsiantar and Perbaungan.   -Production at four oil and natural gas platforms in the east-central Gulf of Mexico shut down by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. due to the threat of Storm Debby.
