Recent Natural Disasters
  • Heavy flooding in Mindanao, Philippines
    -According to Philippines National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, two people died by flooding in Mindanao region.
    -Fatalities are from Sarangani and General Santos City.
    -At least 17 fishermen from Ostigue, Baybay in Brgy. Big Margus in Glan and two from Kalambiga village in Glan were rescued.
    Sultan Kudarat: 2,460 families affected and 23 families evacuated.
    Worst flooded area: barangays Obial, Sta. Clara, Hinalaan and Himulan in Kalamansig town in Sultan Kudarat.
    Bukidnon: At least 50 families evacuated.
    Worst flooded area: barangays Cabangahan, Bangkud, Aglayan and Linabo in Malaybalay City in Bukidnon.
    -Butchoy’ (international name: Guchol) is expected to hit the country on Thursday evening. It is the second typhoon of the year. Tropical storm Guchol is still in the Pacific Ocean. Click for detail report on this Philippines flood.

  • M 4.1 light shallow earthquake in Western Turkey (@ 41 km depth) with epicenter located 29 km SW Fethiye. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Mugla, Denizli and Rodos, Dodecanese Islands, Greece.

  • M 3.3 weak shallow earthquake in Oklahoma (@ 5 km depth) with epicenter located 25 km ENE of Oklahoma city. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Shawnee, Norman, Guthrie, Choctaw and Oklahoma city. Click for detail report on this Oklahoma earthquake.

  • M 4.3 light shallow earthquake Off the Coast of Costa Rica (@ 23 km depth) with epicenter located 64 km SW of Rivas. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Liberia, Guadalupe, Rivas and Managua, Nicaragua.

Volcanic Activity List
  • Indonesia/Dukono recent volcanic activity
    -Mount Dukono spewed volcanic ashes which was spread as far as Tobelo, the capital of North Halmahera district.
    -Dukono volcano remains on level II alert.
    -Dukono Volcano (1185 asl) located in the north of the island of Halmahera is one of a series of active volcanoes in North Maluku.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Nadi, Fiji
    -Heavy rainfall reported in Lautoka. Heavy rain continues in Rakiraki since this morning. Downpour continues in Viti Levu, Kadavu, Southern Lau, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.
    -Residents living near Rakiraki River are advised to move to higher ground.
    -Following Fijivillage, an active trough of low pressure to the west of Fiji is gradually moving eastwards towards the group which will bring more rain and isolated thunderstorms by midnight tomorrow. Click for detail update report on this Fijian floods.
  • Flooding in Taiwan
    -More than 3,000 people were evacuated inundated areas of Taiwan after heavy rains.
    -The rains caused flash floods, landslides. At least five people reported to be killed in mudslides.

  • Tropical storm Invest 94
    -It is located in the southeast Pacific, just off the coast of Central America.
    -Heavy rain fall expected for portions of Central America and southeast Mexico.
