M 5.4 moderate earthquake shakes Mendoza, Argentina early Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 11km NNW of San Martin and 30km ESE of Mendoza . It was 8.8 miles deep.
The 1861 Mendoza earthquake of magnitude 7.2 killed 4,300 people.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
