  • M 5.2 moderate very shallow(@ 15 km depth) earthquake in Lake Rudolf Region, Kenya with epicenter located 74 km NE of Lodwar, Kenya. It will have felt moderately in Lodwar region of Kenya. People of Moroto (Uganda) will have also felt it. Lake Turkana, formerly known as Lake Rudolf, world famous tourist area, is the world's largest permanent desert lake and the world's largest alkaline lake

Recent Cyclones

  • Tropical Storm "FUNSO-12" with current wind speed 46 m/s is active in Mozambique. Cyclone with Saffir Simpson category 2. In particular Mozambique are affected by high winds up to 51 m/s. Looking the future forecast and prediction, it can have great effect later today. GREEN ALERT for Mozambique
  • Tropical Storm "ETHEL-12" with current wind speed 25 m/s is active in Mauritius. GREEN ALERT for Mauritius

Other Disasters
 
  • About 400 people were evacuated after snow storm in Maytas section  of China. The Maytas section of Highway 201 lies in a particularly wind-prone part of Xinjiang, China
  • Hailstorm in Oakland, USA caused power outage in many Oakland homes. However, No injury reported
  • A new statistics published by the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) show that 20,943 people lost their lives in earthquakes last year (2011)
