Recent Earthquakes
  • Magnitude 5.6 strong earthquake (28.6 km depth) in Papua New Guinea with epicenter located 99 km E Vanimo (pop 11,204) and 166 km E Jaya pura (pop 134,895). About 1,000 people will feel strong shaking of MMI VI. People of Aitape (6,000) will feel strongest jolt. Well felt in Vanimo area too as far as 100+ radius from epicenter. The last strongest earthquake in this area was of M 7.6 in 2002 which killed 4 people.

  • Magnitude 3.6 earthquake in Western Iran 15 km W Aligudarz (pop 91,041) and 49 km E Do rud (pop 114,395). Well felt around epicenter area.

  • Magnitude 5.2 strong earthquake disaster in Honshu, japan with epicenter just below Daigo(22,310), Japan. Click for detail updates on this disaster" Strong earthquake rattle Honshu, Japan"
  • Magnitude 4.4 moderate earthquake in Iran with epicenter located 39 km NE Minab (pop 70,790) and 107 km E Bandar-e 'abbas (pop 317,946). It is the area where earthqake is common. Well felt around epicenter and felt in wide area.

 Recent Cyclones
  • Thirteen-E-11 with active storm having current maximum sustained wind speed 15 m/s. Green Alert for East pacific passing near from Nicaragua.
  • Sean-11 with active storm having current maximum sustained wind speed 17 m/s. Green Alert for Bermuda.
    Disaster Note
    : Tropical storm Sean 11 has affected 66 thousand people with winds above 39mph.In addition, few people are living in coastal areas below 5m and can therefore be affected by storm surge.


Recent Floods
  • Thailand Flood- Death Toll At 567

  • Orange Flood Alert In Cambodia. The flood which started with Tropical Storm, Monsoonal Rain about three months has killed 264 people till date. Approximately 13466.62 km2 area has been affected by the flood. GDACS has given this flood a severity class 2.
  • Flood in Columbia has killed 48 people and displaced 55 people within a week. People were evacuated from Manizales, Caldas region.
  • Flood in Kenya has killed 4 people till today. The flood which started a week ago has affected 41010.11 km2 area.
  • Flood in Philippines have displaced 30000 people. However no fatality is reported. Flood is still active in Boyugan East, Gawil, Poblacion and Sicade area.


Recent Volcanoes 

  • Volcanic Eruption On Hierro Canary Islands located in Spain. During 2-8 November, 364 seismic events were recorded at depths of 16-23 km. During 4-5 November authorities evacuated about 80 residents from areas in Frontera due to landslide risks. Hierro contains the greatest concentration of young vents in the Canary Islands. Some days earlier, the toxic gases get mixed in the air.
    Yesterday M 3.2 earthquake stuck  in the El Golfo region.

    M 3.1 earthquake in Canary islands, Spain Region (4:03 @ epicenter)
    Due to the gas eruption, the beaches between Puerto Naos and La Restinga have been closed.
  • Volcanic Eruption On Nyamuragira Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the Africa's most active volcano. Eruption still continues here in Nyamuragira.  video of eruption in Nyamuragira which shows it to be still active.However, The city of Goma, near the volcano, remains unaffected.
    The lava on Mount Nyamulagira in Congo spurted up to 300 meters high. Meanwhile Virunga Park, best known for its endangered mountain gorillas, is now inviting tourists to go on overnight treks to see a volcano spurting fountains of lava.

    UPDATE

    Lava flow have reached within 5 km of Kalengera-Tongo road. It is the area of Gorillas but they are far to be affected.
