Recent Earthquakes

• Magnitude 5.0 moderate earthquake (@ 10 km depth) in Eastern Turkey with epicenter located 41 km E Ercis (pop 91,915) and 81 km NE Van (pop 371,713). It is aftershocks of earlier M 7.2 very dangerous Turkey earthquake which killed 600+ people. The earthquake is well felt by the people of Ercis, Turkey.

• Magnitude 3.3 minor earthquake in Southern California with epicenter located 17 km (10 miles) WNW from Ocotillo, CA. The earthquake is felt as far as Baja California, Mexico due to its shallow depth of 5.9 km.

• Magnitude 4.6 moderate earthquake in Washington with epicenter located just below Omak (pop 4,69). The nearest populated area is Penticton (pop 37,721), WA and Kelowna (pop 125,109), WA 100+ km far from epicenter. About 1,000 people around epicenter felt moderate shaking of MMI V. People of Omak and Okanogan felt a strong jolt. It is felt in Vast area as far as Nelson City, Canada.

•  Magnitude 5.1 earthquake in New Britain Region, Papua New Guinea with epicenter located 30 km (19 miles) WSW from Kandrian, New Britain, PNG. It will be faintly felt as epicenter is far from the residential area.

  About 3,000 people will experience a light shaking of MMI IV
•  Magnitude 3.0 minor earthquake in Central California with epicenter located just below Taft, CA. The earthquake is well felt by the people living above epicenter area. The epicenter is 40 km (25 miles) SW from Bakersfield, CA where slight tremor is felt.

Recent Cyclones

• Sean-11 with active storm having current maximum sustained wind speed 17 m/s. Green Alert for Bermuda.
  Disaster Note: Tropical storm Sean 11 has affected 66 thousand people with winds above 39mph.In addition, few people are living in coastal areas below 5m and can therefore be affected by storm surge

• Thailand Flood- Death Toll At 567

• Orange Flood Alert In Cambodia. The flood which started with Tropical Storm, Monsoonal Rain about three months has killed 264 people till date. Approximately 13466.62 km2 area has been affected by the flood. GDACS has given this flood a severity class 2.
• Flood in Columbia has killed 48 people and displaced 55 people within a week. People were evacuated from Manizales, Caldas region.
  
• Flood in Kenya has killed 4 people till today. The flood which started a week ago has affected 41010.11 km2 area.
• Flood in Philippines have displaced 30000 people. However no fatality is reported.

• Volcanic Eruption On Hierro Canary Islands located in Spain. During 2-8 November, 364 seismic events were recorded at depths of 16-23 km. During 4-5 November authorities evacuated about 80 residents from areas in Frontera due to landslide risks. Hierro contains the greatest concentration of young vents in the Canary Islands. Some days earlier, the toxic gases get mixed in the air.
  The residents of the fishing village of La Restinga on El Hierro island have returned their home. Still fear of new Volcanic Vents opening up.

  Dozens of earthquake recorded today in Canary Island . The strongest was of magnitude 3.7 with epicenter located 81 km SW Valle gran rey (pop 4,983)

  M 2.5 minor earthquake in Canary Islands, Spain region. From some days, the number of tremors in this areas is increasing .
  
• Volcanic Eruption On Nyamuragira Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the Africa's most active volcano. Eruption still continues here in Nyamuragira. We showed the video of eruption in Nyamuragira which shows it be still active.However, The city of Goma, near the volcano, remains unaffected.
  The lava on Mount Nyamulagira in Congo is spewing up to 300 meters high.Meanwhile Virunga Park, best known for its endangered mountain gorillas, is now inviting tourists to go on overnight treks to see a volcano spurting fountains of lava some 300 meters into the air.
