Honduras landslide kills 6 children, injures 2 others

Landslide in La Chicharronera village of Honduras has claimed lives of at least six children and injured two others Wednesday night. Landslide engulfed two houses claiming the lives of children between one and nine years old, Reuters reported. Two other children have been injured in the incident and are having treatment at a local hospital, emergency officials said. One of them is said to be in serious condition. Romania earthquake today shakes Bucharest

M 4.0 light earthquake hits Romania near Bulgarian Border today, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported. According to the EMSC, the quake's epicenter was located 56 km south of Romania's capital Bucharest and 261 km northeast of the Bulgarian capital Sofia. It was 8 km deep. Tremors were felt by the people of Ruse, Stăneşti, Giurgiu and Bucharest. Tropical Storm Kong-Rey floods Taiwan

Tropical Storm Kong-Rey has caused widespread flooding in western cities in Taiwan. Coastal areas of Chiayi, Tainan and Kaohsiung are reported to be worst affected by the floods. Tropical Storm Kong-Rey has dumped more than 500 millimeters (19 inches) of rain on the heavily populated west coast, AP reported. More than 30 domestic and international flights to or from capital Taipei and Kaohsiung have been cancelled. Similarly Taiwan Railway Administration has also suspended some services in the south. Volcano erupts at Rome’s International Fiumicino airport!

A small volcano vent has suddenly appeared near Rome’s International Fiumicino airport, local medias reported. The geyser-like vent has been shooting out steam and mud over the weekend. Rome airport volcano is nearly two metres wide. Geologists and engineers expect it to be a fumarole, a vent of steaming-hot hydrothermal water that erupts at the Earth's surface. Mali floods: 24 killed in capital Bamako

Flash floods in Mali's capital Bamako have claimed lives of at least 24 people, Internal Security and Civilian protection Minister said in a statement. At least nineteen people have died in Taliko alone. Bankoni, Taliko, Lafiabougou, Djicoroni Woyowayanko, Lafiabougou Bougouba and Bougoudani areas have been hit by floods. Flash flood traps 27 hikers in Austrian cave

Flash flood in an underground cave in western Austria has trapped at least 27 hikers, local medias reported. The flood waters closed the entrance to the cave about 320 kilometers west of Vienna. Emergency crews are in voice contact with those trapped inside the cave, rescue officials said. Rescue workers further added that they are not in danger.
