Tropical storm Fernand: Mexico landslides, flooding kill 14

Landslides and flooding in Veracruz and Oaxaca have claimed lives of at least 14 people. Landslide in Gold Rock in Yecuatla Township buried six homes with nine people inside. Landslides in Tuxpan and Atzalan claimed lives of four others. Fast-flowing flood waters swept away a man in Oaxaca. Following Veracruz Civil Protection officials, around 300 people have been evacuated. Veracruz Governor has asked the federal government to declare an emergency in 92 municipalities in Mexico. Nevada earthquake today shakes Reno, Sparks

M 4.2 moderate earthquake shakes Spanish Springs, Nevada today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 3 km NE of Spanish Springs and 19 km NE of Reno. It was 8.7 miles deep. Tremors were felt by the people of Camino, Carson City, Dayton, Foresthill, Grass Valley, Incline Village, Nevada City, Placerville, Reno, Sparks, Sun Valley, Truckee and Virginia City. According to the Washoe County emergency management officials, no damages or injuries have been reported from Nevada earthquake today. Yunnan, China landslide hits hospital

Landslide in Yiliang in Yunnan province of China hit People's Hospital, Xinhua reported. A rain-triggered landslide damaged part of the hospital Monday morning. Patients and residents were also evacuated. No casualties have been reported. Lightning strike in Colombia kills 2

Earthquake New York 2013: Tremors felt in Glens Falls, Queensbury

M 2.7 minor earthquake shakes New York today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 13 km WNW of Glens Falls and 77 km N of Albany. It was 6.3 miles deep. Tremors were felt by the people of Corinth, Fort Edward, Gansevoort, Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Lake George, Lake Luzerne, Queensbury and South Glens Falls. USGS had upgraded the earthquake near Glens Falls NY from magnitude 2.3 to a 2.7. According to the Albany National Weather Service, there are no reports of damage from New York earthquake 2013.
