2 killed in Pyuthan, Nepal landslide

Landslide at Lamachaur in Pyuthan district of Nepal has claimed lives of at least two people and injured two others, local medias reported. An engineer and a technician at Rolpa District Development Committee and two others were hit by landslide at around 7:45 am Thursday morning while travelling in a jeep. Injured people are currently having treatment at Pyuthan hospital in Bijuwar. Landslides have blocked the Bhalubang- Pyuthan roads at various sections. Even injured people could not be taken outside the district for treatment due to the road blockage, Nepal based Ekantipur has written quoting local Police Officers. Meanwhile landslide has buried at least 11 houses in Solukhumbu district of eastern Nepal. The landslides also washed away the drinking water project obstructing the water supply. China hit by worst floods in 50 years

The worst floods in 50 years in Western China have claimed lives of seven people and left 48 missing. Several classes in rural schools have been suspended. Recent rain triggered natural calamities have affected 30,000 people and damaged over 5,000 houses in Western China. At least 2,000 people were rescued yesterday from highway tunnel between Dujiangyan and Wenchuan. Similarly landslide in Sichuan province of China claimed lives of at least 12 yesterday. Bangladesh flash floods affect nearly 10,000

Flash floods triggered by the heavy downpour affected nearly 10,000 people across Bangladesh, The Daily Star reported. Flood waters have submerged 35 villages in Dinajpur due to overflow of Punarbhaba, Atrai and Kakra rivers. According to an official of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Dinajpur, flood waters have damaged at least 10,000 hectares of cropland. Bangladesh is prone to the natural disaster of flooding as it is situated on the Ganges Delta and 75% of Bangladesh is less than 10 m above sea level (Wikipedia). Sichuan, China landslide claims lives of at least 12

Update 05:30 UTC; 2013/07/11 Twelve people are confirmed dead in a landslide in Sichuan Province of China. Landslide in Sichuan province of China has buried at least 30 people and destroyed 11 houses, Xinhua reported. Heavy rainfall triggered landslide at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in Sanxi , Dujiangyan city of China. Rescuers have reached the disaster site and villagers near have been moved to safe places. At least 340 tourists in Sanxi Village have been moved to safe areas. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, rainstorms in China have claimed lives of 16 people since Sunday. Mumbai landslide claims 2, BMC disaster management says

Update 23:50 UTC -According to the fire brigade at the Antop Hill, at least 11 people have been rescued until late evening. -Still five people are believed to be buried under debris. -Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Team (NDRF) are clearing the debris. Landslide at Antop Hill in Mumbai, India has claimed lives of at least two people and critically injured one other. Four people are still reported to be trapped under the rubble. At least three people have been rescued, IBN India reported. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) disaster management, there are no any reports of water logging or traffic jams. BMC disaster management has sent a team of 40 members for the rescue operation. Rescue operation includes Fire Brigade and National Disaster Response Team (NDRF).
