Flooding in Siaya, Kenya kills 1

March 30, 2020: A 67-year-old man died after being swept away by flash floods in Rarieda, Siaya County of Kenya. The most affected areas are Budalang’i in Busia, Nyando in Kisumu, Nyatike in Migori and West Ugenya and parts of Rarieda in Siaya County. Number of bridges have been swept away in Bunyala North.

Kenya: 4.9 magnitude earthquake felt in Mombasa today

March 13, 2020: Magnitude 4.9 earthquake in Tanzania has caused tremor in Mombasa, Kenya today at 09:37 pm. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 19 km NNW of Maramba, Tanzania. The earthquake occurred at 13 km depth. No damage or injuries have been reported due to the earthquake in Mombasa today.

Landslide in West Pokot, Kenya kills 24

November 23, 2019: Landslides caused by severe weather have claimed lives of at least 24 people in in West Pokot county, Kenya. Seven children died in the landslide disaster and severely affected Nyarkulian and Parua villages of Kenya. According to the Kenya Red Cross, in Mikinduri, Meru County, a number  of houses have been reportedly swept away after river Thanantu broke it's banks.

Kenya: Magnitude 4.8 earthquake felt in Nairobi today

March 24, 2019: An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 has been felt today in Nairobi at 07:21 pm local time. According to the United States Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 41km NNW of Wundanyi, Kenya . The tremor was felt as far as 300 km from the epicenter in Arusha, Nairobi and Kiambu area. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10km inside Tsavo West National Park of Kenya. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported.

Flash floods in Turkana, Kenya kill 3

Flash floods in Turkana County of Kenya have claimed lives of three people and left hundred homeless. Several roads have been flooded after four rivers Kawalasee, Kosipir, Kalemorok and Napasinayang burst their banks.

Kenya flood kills five in Homa Bay County

Flooding at Agolo Muok on Sori-Magunga road in Homa Bay County of Kenya has claimed lives of at least five people. A vehicle heading to Nyandiwa was wept away by flood waters in an attempt to cross a bridge on Agolo Muok stream.

Flooding in Nairobi kills three including 3-year-old boy

Heavy rains have triggered flooding in Nairobi claiming lives of three people including  3-year-old boy on Tuesday night. Fatalities include a woman and her three-year-old son who were swept away by flood waters in Kayole, Capital FM Kenya reported. Another eight-year-old boy died in Baba Dogo area.

Mudslide, flood in Mombasa, Kenya kill 2

Mudslide and Flooding in Mimbosa, Kenya have claimed lives of two people, left several missing and made many others homeless. Heavy rainfall triggered mudslides hit a house and buried a person in Kalahari slums in Changamwe. Flooded River Kivunga swepy away a girl in Kilifi, Standard Media reported.

Flash floods in Mandera, Kenya sweeps away bus; 3 killed

At least three people have been confirmed dead after flash floods in Mandera swept away a Nairobi-bound bus. According to The Kenya Red Cross, 42 people were rescued after the bus which was carrying 60  passengers swept away, The Star reported.

Kenya flash floods kill 7

Flash floods in Kenya's Homa Bay have claimed lives of at least seven people including a seven month old baby. Victims were swept by heavy flash floods as they attempted to cross the bridges in Gongo and Kotieno, HomaBay police commander John Omusanga confirmed the Xinhua News Agency .

Flash flood in Kenya claims 12 lives

Flash flood in Kenya has claimed lives of at least twelve people causing widespread destruction of property and infrastructure in Kajiado County. Flash flood swept away two women near Dawamu School on Saturday at Oltepes area near Kiserian. The 10 others lost their lives while traveling on Sunday night in the same region, Xinhua reported. Flash flood in Kenya's Migori kills 10

Flash floods in Kenya's Migori county have killed at least 10 people, Kenya based The Star reports. Flash floods washed away bridges on rivers Nyasare and Onyinjo. Following Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS), flash floods in Kenya since March have claimed 90 lives and displaced more than 100,000 others. Red Cross officials have suggest the government to declare flooding a national disaster in some of the counties so as to increase the flood emergency relief. Landslide in Kenya's Kiambu county kills 3 girls

Landslide in Kenya's Kiambu county has killed three girls, Nation Kenya mentions. Landslide occurred in Magena area of Lari constituency in Kiambu county. Landslide after heavy rainfall has also blocked access to Kijabe Mission Hospital of Kiambu district. Landslide in Kenya's Marakwet County in December 2012 killed ten people including three children. Kenya floods kill 32, displace 18,000 plus

Recent floods in Kenya have claimed lives of 32 people and displaced more than 18,000 people, The Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) says. Floods in Kenya in this rainy season has affected the people mostly in Western, Tana delta and the Rift Valley. Heavy rains have collapsed a bridge near Naivasha. A section of the Nairobi-Nakuru highway has been closed. Heavy vehicles are noticed to use the Mai Mahiu road. The government has allocated Sh500 million as emergency funds to repair flood-damaged roads. Flooding in Kenya kills 4

Recent flooding in Kenya has killed at least four people. Floods have mainly affected Nkoroi, Magadi and Kiserian areas of Kajiado district of Kenya. Kandisi river in Nkoroi swept away two people. Another one was swept away by Entasopia river in Magadi. Fourth body was recovered along Kangawa road. All four causalities were traveling in a matatu from Ongata Rongai to Kiserian when floodwater swept them. The 2007 floods of Africa killed 12 people in Kenya.
