Floods in Karawang, West Java affect nearly 20,000

November 15, 2016: Recent flooding in five sub-districts in Karawang, West Java of Indonesia have affected nearly 20,000 people, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency reported on Monday evening. The flood affected at least 19,669 people prompting the evacuation of around 6,373 people.

Flash floods in Bandung, Indonesia kill 1; damage houses

October 25, 2016: Flash floods in the city of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia have claimed life of a person and damaged thousands of homes.  According to Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), flash floods caused worst damage in Pasteur, Pagarsih, Solokan Jeruk and Sukajadi areas. The Citepus River overflowed due to continuous heavy rainfall. Flood damage assessment is going on.

Thousand evacuated as Mt. Rinjani volcano erupts in Indonesia

More than 1,100 people have been evacuated as 2,000-metre column of ash spewed from Rinjani volcano on Lombok island. The volcano, also known as the “Child of Rinjani”, erupted without warning on Tuesday afternoon, delaying flights from airports in Lombok and nearby Bali, The Guardian reported.

September 21, 2016: Flooding and landslide triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of at least 20 people and left 14 others missing in Indonesian island of Java. The natural disasters caused massive damage in Garut district of West Java, where 17 people were found dead and 13 others were missing.

Mount Bromo volcanic eruption in Indonesia closed all activities at the Abdurrahman Saleh airport in Malang district. Mount Bromo spewed a column of ash by up to 1,200 meters to the sky on Monday, Xinhua News reported quoting Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management agency.

Flooding and landslides in Indonesia's Central Java have claimed lives of 35 people and left 25 others missing. Five machinery equipment and a drone were deployed to help the search and rescue operation, Xinhua News Agency reported quoting a spokesman for the national disaster management agency.

Indonesia's Mount Sinabung volcano eruption kills 7

Indonesia floods kill 17; Rescue going on

According to The Jakarta Post the rescue is going on for missing University Students and guides. The disaster occurred during the student's visit to Dua Warna waterfall in North Sumatra province.

Indonesia's Mount Karangetang volcano emits lava

Mount Karangetang volcano in North Sulawesi region of Indonesia erupted on Wednesday evening sending hot lava as far as 2 kilometers from its crater. Lava from Mt. Karangetang went toward the Kahetang River, around 2,000 meters from the crater, The Jakarta Post reported quoting Sitaro Disaster Mitigation Agency ( BPBD ) head Bob Chalton Wuaten.

2 dead as worst flooding in 10 years hits Bandung, Indonesia

Worst flood in 10 years lashed Bandung District, West Java Province claiming lives of two people, Antara , the official news agency of the government of Indonesia said. Heavy downpour caused the overflow of the Citarum River leaving two dead and three others missing. Fatalities included a 13-year-old teenager and a mother aged 40 years old. The father and his two daughters have been missing after being swept away by the flash flood.

M7.8 earthquake felt in Singapore today; Epicenter in Sumatra

Magnitude 7.8 earthquake shook Singapore today at 08:50 pm, triggering panic among people. The epicenter was located Southwest of Sumatra, Indonesia and was strongly felt in Medan. According to United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was 659 km SW of Muara Siberut, Indonesia.

Flooding in Indonesia's Aceh Province evacuates thousands

Flooding in Aceh Province of Indonesia has caused evacuation of 7,597 people in five districts. Evacuated people have been currently living in meunasah (small mosques) and higher areas in villages, Tempo reported quoting Munawar, secretary of North Aceh Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).

Flash flood in East Java, Indonesia destroys houses

Flash flood in Situbondo district, East Java destroyed houses Sunday morning after Silowogo river overflew following the heavy rain. "The flash flood hit houses in Silowogo village, Bungatan district at 3 am on Sunda," Tempo English  reported quoting Head of Disaster Prevention and Mitigtion Division of Situbondo Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Situbondo Yahya Maziun.

Nearly 1,000 people have been evacuated as Mount Egon volcano in East Nusa Tenggara of Indonesia erupted with hot ash and toxic gas. As many as 927 people living in the dangerous evacuation zone of 3 kilometers have been evacuated to safer grounds, Xinhua reported quoting Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of national disaster management agency.
