Magnitude 5.9 strong earthquake in Argentina has claimed life of a person in northwest Argentine's area of Galpon Saturday morning. Earthquake has damaged several houses and schools claiming life of a women, Reuters reported quoting Hector Romero, mayor of El Galpon.

Recent flood in Argentina's Cordoba province kills 7

Recent flood in Argentina's Cordoba province has claimed lives of at least seven people. Heavy rainfall triggered flood in Ascochinga, Jesús María, Juárez Celman, Río Ceballos, Unquillo and Mendiolaza areas of Argentina. Three of them were swept away by strong currents in the town of Rio Ceballos when the local river burst its banks. "There are 1,000 evacuees in the Sierras Chicas area and Córdoba City who have not been able to return to their homes," Buenos Aires Herald reported as quoted by the governor José Manuel De la Sota.

Japan avalanches claim four including 2 Argentine nationals

A series of avalanches over the weekend in Nagano and Niigata prefectures of Japan have claimed lives of four people. An avalanche Sunday at Ryuoo Ski Park in Yamanouchi, Nagano Prefecture, killed two Argentine nationals. The 30-meter-wide, 200-meter-long avalanche started when the two Argentines skied off the prepared slope, The Japan Times has written quoting the Nagano Prefectural Police.

Heavy rainfall caused mudslides in  El Rodeo and Siján areas. Five women and three children are still reported to be missing. More than 200 people have been living in the evacuation shelters. Lightning strike in Argentina kills 3, injures 22

Lightning strike in Argentina has claimed lives of at least three people and injured 22 others.   Lightning bolt hit Villa Gesell, Argentina on Thursday afternoon and injured 16 adults and six children, Telam state news agency reported. Many of the injured people are having treatment in hospital for burns. Villa Gesell is a seaside village in Villa Gesell Partido on the Atlantic coast located around 400 kilometers from Buenos Aires. M 4.7 moderate temblor shakes Villa Berna, the Córdoba region of Argentina today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 21 km NNE of Villa Berna and 36 km SSW of Villa Carlos Paz. It was 15.8 miles deep. Chile, Argentina finally order evacuation around Copahue volcano, red alert issued

A red alert has been declared by Chilean and Argentine authorities and ordered the mandatory evacuation of a 25-km (15.5-mile) radius around the Copahue volcano. Around 2,240 people are expected to be evacuated in Chile alone. Note that the evacuation is obligatory, not voluntary. The evacuation could last about 48 hours, Emergency Office in Chile said. Similarly in Neuquen province of Argentina, some 900 people are ordered to evacuate the area. All schools are closed in the municipality. Argentina floods 2013 have claimed lives of 54 people by April 4, 2013. The flooding is the result of the extremely heavy rainfall from three days. Update 23:25 UTC Death toll from violent storm and heavy flooding in Argentina has risen to 57. Still 20 people are reported to be missing. Update April 4, 2013 -Flash floods in Buenos Aires and the nearby university city of La Plata have killed at least 54 people. -The government in Argentina has declared three days of national mourning from Wednesday. -At least 48 people died in La Plata and six others died in Buenos Aires. -Following Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri, about 350,000 people have been affected by the recent floods. -At least 2,500 people have been evacuated from La Plata area.
