Update 10:15 pm According to the Nepal Seismological Center, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 has been recorded in Kaski with epicenter in Ghachok. The tremor was well felt in Pokhara valley. Update January 3, 2020 The death toll from Jakarta flood has risen to 48. Fatalities caused due to landslides, hypothermia, drowning, and electrocution. Floods occurred throughout the Indonesian capital of Jakarta and its metropolitan area and the heavy rainfall caused Ciliwung and Cisadane river to overflow. According to the Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) around 409,000 people have been affected by the floods, with over 366,000 of them in Bekasi City. Global disasters caused $140bn economic losses in 2019

January 1, 2020: Total economic losses from natural and man-made catastrophes fell to around USD 140 billion in 2019 from USD 176 billion last year,  Swiss Reinsurance Institute said.
