Earthquake felt in Bangkok today; Buildings evacuated

Tremors have been recorded in Bangkok at 5.34 Thai time on August 24, 2016 forcing the people to evacuate from the higher buildings. The Meteorological Department's Seismology Office confirmed the tremor as the result of magnitude 6.8 earthquake with epicenter in Myanmar located about 416 km northwest of Muang district of Mae Hong Son. 

August 24, 2016: Deadly earthquake in Amatrice, Italy

Aerial photo of earthquake damage in Amatrice, Italy (AP/BBC) A 6.2 magnitude earthquake rattled Central Italy on 24 August 2016 at 03:36 CEST with severe damage in the historic town of Amatrice. According to the civil protection officials, at least 159 people have been killed and 368 injured till 04:09 am local time, August 25, 2016. At least 86 of the dead were in the historic town of Amatrice, destroying three-quarters of the town, and in nearby Accumoli, BBC has written quoting mayor. The epicentre was near Norcia, a town popular with foreign tourists, but most of the deaths were in the nearby towns of Accumoli and Amatrice and the village of Pescara del Tronto. Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology recorded more than 200 aftershocks by 15:00 (13:00 GMT) on Wednesday.

Light earthquake in Delhi today

An earthquake measuring 3.5 hit Delhi and its surrounding areas around 03:05 pm afternoon on August 22, 2016. According to India Meteorological Department, the earthquake occurred near Mahendragarh, Haryana at a shallow depth of 10 km.

Vietnam: Typhoon Dianmu kills 1, injures 3

Typhoon Dianmu has claimed life of a person and injured three others in Vietnam, Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said Xinhua News Agency . A 48-year-old man died after being swept away by flood water in northern Son La province. At least three people got injured in Hanoi.

Louisiana flooding kills 13 - Worst natural disaster since Hurricane Sandy

Flooding triggered by continuous rainfall have claimed lives of at least 13 people in South Louisiana prompting Governor John Bel Edwards to declare the current natural disaster a "historic, unprecedented flooding event." According to the American Red Cross , the catastrophic flood in Louisiana is the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy four years ago.

Emergency declared after flooding in Macedonia kills 21

Government has declared a state of emergency after torrential rain and floods claimed lives of at least 21 people and left six others missing in Macedonia. A storm with strong winds and flooding hit Skopje and the western parts of the country on August 6, 2016. According to the Macedonia's weather service,  around 93 l/sqm fell in two hours on Skopje, which is equivalent to the average for an entire month of August.
