Hailstorm in Bogra, Bangladesh injures 6

At least six people have been injured in hailstorm in Sherpur, Bogra this Sunday afternoon. Hailstorm also suspended traffic on the Dhaka-Dinajpur Highway for nearly half an hour, Dhaka Tribune reported. Bogra is one of the oldest towns in northern Bangladesh. Bangladesh flash floods affect nearly 10,000

Flash floods triggered by the heavy downpour affected nearly 10,000 people across Bangladesh, The Daily Star reported. Flood waters have submerged 35 villages in Dinajpur due to overflow of Punarbhaba, Atrai and Kakra rivers. According to an official of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Dinajpur, flood waters have damaged at least 10,000 hectares of cropland. Bangladesh is prone to the natural disaster of flooding as it is situated on the Ganges Delta and 75% of Bangladesh is less than 10 m above sea level (Wikipedia). Earthquake in Tripura, India shakes Bangladesh

M 4.2 light shallow earthquake shakes Indian state of Tripura, the India Meteorological Department said. According to the India Meteorological Department, the quake's epicenter was located in western Tripura on the border with Bangladesh. It was 2.5 miles deep. Earthquake in Tripura occurred at 9:14 Monday morning. Tremor was felt in several parts of northeast India and Bangladesh but no damage or injury has been recorded, disaster management official said. The Union department of disaster management has claimed North Tripura and Dhalai districts as “most vulnerable” to earthquakes. Flash floods in Noakhali, Bangladesh affect 25,000

At least 25,000 Bengalis have been affected by the flash floods in Hatiya, Subarnachar and Companiganj upazilas of Noakhali, Dhaka Tribune reported. Tidal surge and torrential rains have been hitting Noakhali region since Wednesday. Flash flood has also washed away 11,500 hectares of paddy. Flash flood hits Lalmonirhat, Bangladesh

Recent flash floods in Bangladesh have affected over 40 villages in Lalmonirhat, The Daily Star reported. Several low lying areas in Teesta and Dharla river basins have been affected by flood water. Displaced people are currently taking shelter on government roads and WDB dam. Bangladesh is one of the world most susceptible country to flood disasters. Lightning strikes in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh has claimed lives of at least four people, Bangladesh based BdNews24.com reports. one-hour storm damaged 100 houses in Konaur village of Kaitala. Nor’wester claimed five lives including two children in Tangail, Sirajganj and Gaibandha area of Bangladesh, BdNews24 mentions. Nor’wester claimed two children in Sadar upazila in Tangail. Storm in Tangail also damaged primary and high school, a mosque and a madrassa. One woman died in house collapse in Dumrai village in Sirajganj. Tornado in Bangladesh claims 14 lives. Tornado caused huge loss in Sadar, Bijoynagar and Akhaura Upazilas of Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh.Death toll is expected to rise. Storm sinks 2 trawlers in Bangladesh

At least four sailors have been missing after the trawler in which they were carrying goods sank in Bangladesh following a stormy weather . Disaster occurred in Meghana river, one of the three that forms the Ganges Delta. Following Bangla News 24, two trawlers loaded with bricks left for Swandip in Chittagong from local Nalchira Ghat. Both trawlers sank after being hit by storm but luckily the crews of one trawler managed to swim asshore but all four crews of other went missing. Strong earthquake near Shillong, Meghalaya, India on March 2, 2013
