Typhoon Kompasu kills 11 in Philippines

October 12, 2021:  Typhoon Kompas u (called "Maring" in Philippines) has claimed lives of eleven people and left seven others missing in Philippines . More than 6,500 villagers have been evacuated from flood affected areas. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), fatalities have been reported from Benguet, Cagayan and Palawan province. The Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) was on ALERT STATUS RED since the start of the natural disaster . According to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), Kompasu will make landfall in upper Vietnam on Wednesday or Thursday. Heavy rain is expected in Mukdahan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon and Bueng Kan provinces in Thailand.

4.5 magnitude earthquake rattles Sindhupalchowk, Nepal

September 25, 2021: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.5 has been recorded in Sindhupalchowk today, Nepal's National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center confirmed. The earthquake occurred at 12:12 pm Saturday afternoon with epicenter in northern part of Sindhupalchowk near Pangtang, Nepal . On Monday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was recorded in Kharra, Darchula.

ADB approves $251 million for urban flood protection and management in India

September 24, 2021: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $251 million for urban flood protection and management in India. The loan has been issued for integrated flood management of the Chennai–Kosasthalaiyar river basin. The loan will be utilized to establish climate-resilient urban flood protection infrastructure.
