2.7 magnitude earthquake in Carson felt by residents of Torrance

September 23, 2021: A small earthquake of magnitude 2.7 has been recorded in Carson today at 7:58 p.m., the United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed. The earthquake occurred at 4.6 km depth. The tremor was felt by the people of Torrance, Long Beach, Gardena, Harbor City, Compton, Lomita, Wilmington, Lawndale and Redondo Beach.

Volcanic eruption on La Palma in Spanish Canary Islands destroys 100 houses

September 22, 2021: A volcano eruption on La Palma in the Spanish Canary Islands has destroyed around 100 houses and forced the evacuation of about 5,500 residents. The authorities are closely monitoring fires that may start from the burning lava of Cumbre Vieja volcano. Evacuation orders have been issued for El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane. According to Copernicus Emergency Management Service, the lava from the volcano has spread over 154 hectares in the towns of El Paso and Los Llanos de Aridane. The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez flew to La Palma to oversee rescue efforts.
