Rwanda: Flooding, mudslides in Kigali kill 13

February 4, 2020: Flooding and mudslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed lives of at least 13 people in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda . Floodwater swept away 15 houses in Kigali and left some roads inaccessible. The Rwanda Meteorology Agency has predicted more heavy rainfall in coming days.

Recent flooding in southern Tanzania leaves 21 dead

February 4, 2020: Recent flooding in southern Tanzania has claimed lives of 21 people. Floods have been affecting Lindi, Iringa, Ruvuma, Mtwara regions in southern Tanzania since January 27, 2020. The highest fatalities have been reported from southern district of Kilwa (Lindi Region) where at least 13 people have been died. Further, around 15,000 people have been displaced.

Magnitude 2.8 earthquake in Dyersburg, TN today

February 4, 2020: Magnitude 2.8 earthquake has been recorded in Tennessee today with epicenter located 9 km NNW of Dyersburg. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 11.7 km depth. Weak tremor of intensity III was felt by the people of Dyersburg, Newbern and Finley. No preliminary damage or injuries reported from the earthquake in Dyersburg, TN.

Chengdu earthquake today measures 5.2 in magnitude

February 2, 2020: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.2 has been felt in Chengdu today at 12:05 am midnight. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the quake's epicenter was located 46 km far from Chendu, Sichuan, China . The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 9 km. Light tremor of MMI IV has been felt by the people of Dawan, Chengdu and Huayang. No damage or injuries have been reported from the earthquake in Chengu today. The 2008 Sichuan earthquake claimed lives of at least 87,000 and was the 18th deadliest earthquake of all time. The earthquake's epicenter was located 80 km west-northwest of Chengdu.

Puerto Vallarta earthquake today measures 4.2 in magnitude

February 2, 2020: Magnitude 4.2 light earthquake has been recorded in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico today at 01:37 am. According to the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), the quake's epicenter was located 12 km Southwest of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The earthquake occurred at 17 km depth. No damage or injuries have been reported from the earthquake in Puerto Vallarta today.

Magnitude 3.6 earthquake in Anza, California today

February 2, 2020: Magnitude 3.6 light earthquake has been recorded in Anza, California today at 04:59 pm, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported. According to the USGS, the quake's epicenter was located 13km W of Anza, CA. The earthquake in Anza today occurred at 4.7 km depth. Weak intensity of MMI III was felt in the neighouring areas of Anza. The tremor was felt in Aguanga, Hemet, Anza, Temecula, Idyllwild, Winchester, San Jacinto and Pala. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported from this earthquake.
