Landslides hit parts of India, delays Nilgiri Mountain Rail Service

Several landslide disasters have hit Himachal and Maharashtra region of India delaying Nilgiri Mountain Rail service. Following a state disaster management authority, landslide alerts have been issued for all districts in the Konkan region. Several people were evacuated following a landslide in Ratnagiri, a port city on the Arabian Sea coast in Ratnagiri district in the southwestern part of Maharashtra, India. Around 180 tourists were stranded for about three hours near Hillgrove station, following a landslide on the railway track. Tourists were travelling by the famous Nilgiri Mountain Rail service. Heavy rainfall hit various parts of Himachal Pradesh. Rains caused huge landslide in Tapri near Rekong Peo in Kinnaur district. No injury has been reported. Around 15,000 tourists were stranded along Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway, following a landslide in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India some days ago. Slovenia earthquake 2013

M 4.1 light earthquake shakes Slovenia today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located just 5 km WSW of Zuzemberk. It was 6.2 miles deep. Following Slovenian Environment Agency, Slovenia lies on the seismically active southern boundary of the Eurasian tectonic plate on the north-western boundary of the Mediterranean-Himalayan seismic belt. Greece earthquake today

M 5.8 moderate earthquake shakes Greece today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 56 km S of Pirgos. It was 23.5 miles deep. Greece earthquake today is the strongest aftershock of the yesterday's earthquake. Magnitude 6.0 earthquake was also felt in Egypt. Landslide near Motueka, New Zealand claims 1

Landslide near Motueka in the Tasman district of New Zealand has claimed life of an woman. Landslide site which is located in Marahau, about 19 km north of Motuek is believed to be about 100 metres long and 20 metres wide, New Zealand press reported. Tasman flooding has also caused traffic jams on West Bank Road in the Motueka Valley. Several slips and road closures have been reported. Tasman District Council has urged people to have their own sandbags. According to New Zealand police, a media briefing will be held at the Motueka Police Station at 7.15 pm today on the landslide near Kaiteriteri. Earthquake caused landslide in Mexico

M 5.8 strong earthquake shakes Mexico today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 22km W of Jolalpan. It was 33.4 miles deep. The epicenter was in Guerrero state near the border of Puebla. Mexico earthquake caused landslides along several roads and collapsed walls in Jiutepec, Morelos. Luckily no injury has been reported (earthquake damage report below).
