Colombia Mudslide: 254 dead, 400 injured in Mocoa

April 3, 2017: Flash flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall in the city of Mocoa, Putumayo, Colombia have claimed lives of at least 254 people and injured more than 400 people. President Juan Manuel Santos has declared a state of emergency in the region. More than 1,000 emergency personnel, including soldiers and local police have been deployed to help the rescue efforts.

Landslide kills at least seven on Colombian highway

October 26, 2016: A landslide claimed lives of at least seven people and buried more than 10 others along a mountainous stretch of Colombia's main highway between Bogota and Medellin on Wednesday. "Others four people have been injured and taken to a local hospital," Reuters reported disaster management chief for the northwestern department of Antioquia, Gilberto Mazo as saying. According to the authorities, the landslide disaster occurred due to heavy rain in the mountainous area.

A landslide in west Colombia has claimed lives of five people and left 30 others missing on Thursday, June 9, 2016. The landslide took place around 3:30PM on the road between Medellin and Quibdo, the capital of the Pacific Choco province, Colombia Reports mentioned.

Rain-triggered landslide in Colombia leaves 5 missing

A rain-triggered landslide in south-western Colombia has left at least five people missing. The landslide disaster hit the La Chivera region in the Cauca department of Colombia. A team of emergency response crews have reached the disaster area, Xinhua quoted Jorge Arias, mayor of Caloto, a city in Cauca as saying.

At least 78 people have been killed when heavy rains caused the river Liboriana to burst is banks, triggering the landslide in Colombia. Landslide has damaged houses of more than 500 people, Reuters has written quoting the national disaster unit. About 1,000 people have been evacuated to nearby shelters.

Major hailstorm in Bogota, Colombia affects 900

Major hailstorm in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia covered the area with a 24-inch layer of icy snow  affecting lives of around 900 people. More than 900 people have been affected by recent hailstorm in Fraguita, Antonio Nariño and Restrepo in the southern part of the city, El Espectador quoted Fire Department as saying.

Storm in Antioquia, Colombia kills 2 – Yellow alert issued

Heavy rains and strong winds have claimed lives of at least two people and destroyed six houses, Colombia Report has mentioned quoting The Administrative Department of Prevention, Attention, and Recovery of Disasters (DAPARD). Disaster has affected 24 people, and forced the relocation of 17 houses in Yarumal Municipality of Antioquia Department in Colombia. Moderate earthquake in Cali, Colombia today

M 5.3 moderate earthquake shakes Colombia today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 40 km (25mi) W of El Dovio. It was 38.1 miles deep. People of Andes, Armenia, Bogotá, Buenavista, Cali, Envigado, Itagüí, Pereira and Vista Hermosa have reported light to weak shaking. No damage or injuries have been reported from earthquake in Cali, Colombia today. Lightning strike in Colombia kills 2
