September 11, 2021: Hurricane Larry made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h in Canada today. Hurricane Larry has caused power outage to more than 10,000 customers mostly on the Avalon Peninsula, The Newfoundland Power confirmed. According to the Environment Canada, storm surge has been near the Burin Peninsula and Avalon Peninsula. As of 03:50 UTC today, Hurricane Larry is located about 135 km WSW of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

May 21, 2020: A weak, short-lived EF0 tornado touched down in Saanich, B.C. today, the Environment Canada confirmed. The rare tornado in Saanich only lasted a few seconds and there were no reported injuries. According to the Environment Canada , EF0 tornadoes have wind speeds of between 90 and 130 km/hr.

According to the Canadian National Seismic Network, the earthquake's epicenter was located around 39 km NNE of Montreal, QC. The earthquake occurred at 18 km depth. Tremor was felt by the people of Saint-Roch-de-lʿAchigan, LʿÉpiphanie, Lac-Lapierre, Saint-Jacques, Verchères and Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines Québec, Canada. No preliminary damage or injuries have been reported from the earthquake in Montreal, Canada today.

January 8, 2020: An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 has been recorded off Vancouver Island today at 12:20 local time, Earthquakes Canada reported. According to the Earthquakes Canada, the earthquake's epicenter was located 215 km W of Port Hardy, BC. The earthquake occurred at 10km depth. However, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported a magnitude 4.4 earthquake off Vancouver Island today, lower than what Earthquakes Canada reported. March 4, 2019: Earthquakes Canada has detected seismic activity near Sylvan Lake and Red Deer, Canada today. Residents of Sylvan Lake and Red Dee woke up due to earthquake at 5:55 a.m. Monday morning. Tremor was felt across Central Alberta, with many communities experiencing a power outage. The last earthquake reported by Earthquake Canada was in Salmon Arm, B.C on March 2. The tremor was felt from Sicamous to Tappen.

March 3, 2019: A small earthquake of magnitude 2.2 rattled Salmon Arm, a city in the Shuswap Country of the Southern Interior of the Canadian province of British Columbia at 11:23 p.m. PST today. According to the Earthquakes Canada, the earthquake occurred at an estimated depth of 1 km with epicenter located 4 km NE of Salmon Arm. Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) mentioned via twitter that "it appears there is no immediate emergency or threat to public safety in the Salmon Arm area." The tremor was felt from Sicamous to Tappen.

A state of emergency has been declared in a first Nations community on Vancouver Island after rising water levels threaten to flood as many as two dozen homes. The Somass River has been swollen due to heavy downpour leading sandbagging operation in the area, The Canadian Press mentioned quoting Tseshaht Chief Councillor Hugh Braker as saying. Tseshaht is located just west of Port Alberni.

Parkland County council has declared a state of agricultural disaster during the July 14th Parkland County Council meeting. “These extreme drought conditions are devastating crops across Parkland County,” Mayor Rod Shaigec said in a news release Tuesday. “Council wants to make it clear to our agricultural community that we understand, and will provide all means of support possible. By declaring a state of agricultural disaster, we hope to call attention to this extremely important issue.”

Dozens of wildfires burning across British Columbia have forced two communities to declare states of emergency. A state of emergency was issued Saturday morning after a 16-hectare fire caused the evacuation of about 100 residences in Port Hardy. The Squamish Lillooet Regional District also issued a state of emergency due to a 500-hectare fire northwest of Pemberton, Vancouver 24 hrs reported.

M 4.8 moderate earthquake shakes Vancouver Island, Canada Region today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 62 km W of Port Alberni, Canada. It was 7.7 miles deep. Port Alberni earthquake today has been felt in Campbell River, Courtenay, Cumberland, Nanaimo, Parksville, Ucluelet, Vancouver, Victoria and Walnut Grove. Port Alberni was hit by tsunamis in 1964 which washed away 55 homes and damaging 375 others. The tsunami was the result of magnitude 9.6 earthquake in Alaska which killed 139 people.
