Typhoon Rammasun (local name Glenda) is the seventh storm of the season to be named by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Mahakali flood in Nepal kills 8, submerges over 500 homes

Massive flooding in Mahakali River of Nepal has claimed lives of atleast eight people and submerged more than 500 houses, Republica has reported quoting the Far-Western Regional Police Office, Dipayal.

Floods in the Mahakali River caused by three days of incessant rainfall have claimed lives of two each from Baitadi, Doti, Kanchanpur and one each from Dadeldhura and Kailali.

Landslide in Guizhou, China buries 8

Landslide in Guizhou province of China has buried eight people, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Heavy rain caused the landslide in Dakuo Village of Zhijin County in the city of Bijie at around 4 a.m

Floods displace 1,884 in Uruguay, Emergency System says

Floods have displaced 1,884 people out of their homes in western Uruguay, Xinhua News Agency has reported quoting the country's National Emergency System (SINAE).

Paysandu province in Bulgaria is reported to be worst hit by the floods dispalcing 1,082 people.

Tornado in Maguindanao, Philippines destroys houses

Tornado in Maguindanao, Philippines has destroyed dozen of houses and three school buildings, The Philippine Star reported.

According to the municipal disaster risk reduction and management council of South Upi,  the tornado that struck Barangay Kigan has also flattened more than two hectares of corn planted on hilly areas.

Tornado in Perth suburbs of Australia has claimed lives of two people, cutting power to thousands of homes.

The wild weather that hit Hilton, O’Connor and Claremont early today was a tornado, The Australia News confirmed quoting the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM).

Heavy rainfall in Sindhupalchok, Nepal kills 6

Three houses collapse following rainfall in Sindhupalchok district of Nepal have claimed lives of at least six people, The Republica reported.

Three persons including two members of a same family were killed in a house collapse in Chautara-1, Peepal Danda of Sindhupalchok. Other three died in house collapses in Dhusung-2, Eklagaun and Bhotsipa-4 of Sindhupalchok district.

Landslide in Lele, Lalitpur claimed lives of four people and injured three others on Sunday.

Landslide in Lele, Lalitpur, Nepal kills 4, injures 3

A landslide at Mahadev Khola, Lele-4 in Lalitpur district of Nepal has claimed lives of atleast four people and injured three others, The Republica Daily reported.

The landslide hit a quarry while they were working at the stone mine.

Injured people are having treatment at B & B Hospital, Tikabhairav-based Ananda Ban Hospital and  Jawalakhel-based Alka Hospital.

Lele is a village development committee in Lalitpur district in the Bagmati Zone of Nepal.

Tsunami hits Fukushima – Seismologist says 'Japan earthquake 2011 aftershocks'

A minor tsunami of 20 centimetres (7.8 inches) has been observed in Ishinomaki, Miyagi prefecture, and Ofunato, Iwate prefecture of Japan after magnitude 6.8 earthquake hit the region, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

Tidal waves of 10 cm were also logged in the city of Soma located about 40 km north of the Fukushima No. 1 plant, the agency said.

The quake was registered at level four on the Japan's seismic scale of 7 in some parts of Fukushima prefecture.

"Today's tremor was aftershock of 2011 quake", Japan Today has written quoting the seismologist Yasuhiro Yoshida of the Japan Meteorological Agency. "There are fears that relatively large earthquakes will occasionally occur in the ocean area where aftershocks of the great earthquake continue," the seismologist Yasuhiro Yoshida added.

Earthquake in Jersey, Channel Islands today is biggest in 87 years!

M 4.2 moderate earthquake in Jersey, Channel Islands today is believed to be the biggest earthquake in 87 years.

According to the British Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 15 km west of Jersey, Channel islands. It was 7.4 miles deep.

Earthquake in Jersey, Channel Islands today was located approximately 37 km west of a magnitude 5.2 earthquake that occurred on 12 April 1932.

Tremor was well felt in St. Helier, St. Sampson, St. Peter Port (Guernsey) and Saint Brieuc (France) region.

According to the British earthquakes database, last earthquake in Channel Islands was on February 27, 1927. So, today's earthquake is the biggest earthquake in Jersey and Guernsey on the Channel Islands for 87 years.

The Durrell Wildlife Trust said BBC that the animals in the wildlife park reacted to the earthquake in Channel Islands today.

Yunnan landslides leave 6 dead, 17 missing

Landslides in Yunnan Province of China have claimed lives of at least six people and left 17 others missing, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Landslide at around 2 a.m. in Minzhu Village, Yunlong County, killed six people. Another landslide struck a silicon mining site in Shawa Village, Fugong County and left 17 others missing.

They are expected to swept into the Nujiang River, which is about 500 meters from the site.

Around 61 people in Yunnan have been killed or were missing due to disasters brought by heavy rain as of June 30, Xinhua mentioned quoting the provincial meteorological bureau.

Violent hailstorm in Bulgaria's capital Sofia kills 1, injures 40

A severe hailstorm in Bulgaria's capital city of Sofia has claimed life of a 70-year-old pedestrian and injured 40 others, The Sofia News Agency reported.

The storm knocked down a tree on the pedestrian in the park Borisova Gradina. Injured people are having treatment in the emergency center of the Pirogov hospital.

According to the Sofia News Agency, the central district of Stochna Gara has been flooded and traffic there has been completely blocked. Many buildings have been flooded, including the Sofia Emergency care main building.

Hundreds of owners of damaged cars have been queuing for hail storm insurance claims, The Sofia News Agency added.

Bulgarian Government has now allocated BGN 1.2M for anti-hail missiles.

Severe storms in Smithfield and Maryland kill 5

Severe storms in United States have claimed lives of at least five people and left hundreds of thousands of people without power in New York and Pennsylvania.

Four people died in Smithfield, a town between Syracuse and Utica in New York state. Storm at a church summer camp near Manchester, Maryland claimed life of a boy and injured eight other children, The Reuters reported.

Storms have also left about 72,000 homes and businesses without power, most in central and northern New York.

Typhoon Neoguri in Okinawa kills 1, more than 500,000 urged to evacuate

Typhoon Neoguri has claimed life of a person and urged more than 500,000 people to evacuate in Okinawa region of Japan.

More than 50,000 households in Okinawa have lost power.

Japan Meteorological Agency has issued an emergency storm surge warning early Tuesday for Miyako island and adjacent islets in Japan's southernmost prefecture of Okinawa.

Typhoon Neoguri is expected to make landfall at Kyushu area in southwest Japan on Thursday.

According to the US's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Typhoon Neoguri is expected to be the most powerful typhoon to hit Okinawa island in Japan in 15 years.

The typhoon was named by the Republic of Korea. Neoguri means "raccoon dog."

Strong earthquake kills 7 in Guatemala and Chiapas, Mexico

Guatemala

- Three deaths were reported in San Marcos.
- One death was reported in Quetzaltenango due to a cardiac arrest.
-(Unconfirmed)  One death was reported in Escuintla due to a cardiac arrest.
- 35 people were injured and 135 homes were damaged in Sibinal.
- A schools was heavily damaged in Comitancillo.
- Schools were damaged in Retalhuleu.
- The cathedral of San Pedro Sacatepequez was heavily damaged. Moderate to heavy damage was seen in the mall and homes in this city, a sinkhole opened in the parking lot of a park. Water and power services were also affected.
- Both towers of a church in Ixchiguan are about to collapse, homes collapsed or suffered heavy damage in this town.
- 48 homes were heavily damaged in La Reforma.
- 8 homes in La Esperanza were damaged.
- The health center of Santa Cruz Mulua was damaged.
- Unconfirmed reports indicate that the municipal building of Tajamulco collapsed, heavy damage has been reported around the town.

Gold mine landslide in Honduras has trapped 11 workers, Online medias reported.

Landslide occurred at a gold mine in San Juan Arriba in a vertical tunnel at a depth of about 80 m (260 ft), BBC News updated quoting firefighter spokesman Oscar Triminio.

Landslide claims 2 lives in Chamoli, India

A landslide at Surai Toda in Chamoli district of India has claimed lives of two people, Web India reported quoting The Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre (DMMC).

Both were labourers working for GREF, Borde Road Organisation (BRO), The Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre added.
